BTW, Bar isn't actually the SI unit. Pascals is.

1 bar = 100,000 pascals = 14.504 psi

so in the metric world, when somebody is planning on putting together a turbo kit, do you ever hear them say something like "yeah, I plan on running zero-point-six-eight bar..."

or would that be "sixty-eight-hundredths of a bar"

Yup. Or more likely "point 7 bar".

BTW Australia is a very pragmatic country. We went decimal in 1966 but for things like tyre and boost pressure still talk in psi. But in Japan and Europe if you said psi they look at you strangely.

But if you see the specs for a new turbo car it's boost will be in bar.

interesting and different, ok so I need some feedback on this gauge I found guys, I found a psi/boost gauge on ebay made by Mookeeh /mk1 B2. For $80 looks like a good one and a good price, but I don't know exactly what i'm looking for with my set up, it has some features incorporated in it that I don't know if I care to need such as max boost recall and warning, but they come with it so thats fine. It says turbo and does not specify if its for SC or not. Does it matter? Description says it comes with all hardware to install and uses electrical rather then vacuum hose. Does this sound like what I need for my CT SC set up? It comes with a swivel flat base instead of the column housing which I want so I can mount anywhere, but only if this gauge will work for my set up. Thanks guys!

Sounds great, and max reading recall is good.

There is no difference between a gauge for turbo or SC except that SCs are generally low boost. What's the point in having a gauge that goes to 30psi on a system that maxes out at 5.

Ok, do you know if there is any issue with using an electrical method of reading the boost vs manual vacuum line? I'm not sure where on the SC the electrics would hook up to to read this. Vacuum line would just seem to plug right into the system. But this gauge uses wires to read the signal. I'm not sure if this is compatible or ideal.

Electrical gauges come with a sensor that connects to your vacuum lines and then you run the wire to your gauge. Beats running a vacuum line through your firewall and up to your gauge.

I used to have Blitz SBC ID3 boost controller in my turbo IS300. Straight and simple to use. No need to buy another boost gauge if you are going with Blitz SBC ID3 I'm going to get the same unit on my S2K once I drop turbo kit in it.
