Default bored out TB vs aftermarket TB

So I just came back from my tuner and the 2 things I changed were

1) 70mm bdl TB to a proflow design stock bored one
2) stock comptech blow off valve (found out that the stock comptech is good for 8lbs boost) swapped for a hks ssqv

results:

hp was 410 now 412
torque was 240 now 240
boost was 13.8 now 14.5

conclusion....swapping out the stock bov made a difference.. apparently comptech used different versions of the bov one rated at 13or 14lbs the other at 8 (check your serial number its a stock audi/vw part)

the throttle body was not really worth the hassle that went with it. Throttle feel is so much better ...Ill post my new dyno soon..

thanks

so you make 2 more hp and the same torque yet ~.7psi more? Sounds like the throttle body made it worse then anything.

And even if you did "gain power" thats well within the 2-5% dyno error

However, thumbs up to you for clearing up the arguement over stock vs aftermarket throttle bodies

you are correct sir.
The bdl didnt seem to do that much if anything for power thats why I took it off.. even if I loose a few ponys ill trade that any day for driveability..

My 74mm BDL TB was a waste of $ at my puny 9psi boost level. The stock TB will flow up to 5 or 600hp (crank). 74mm BDL is used on the fastest street-class Honda in the USA - it makes 950hp.

Total Overkill....

Regarding the diverter valve, could you explain further how we can tell from the serial number what boost rating it has? thanks

Congrats.
Your beast is too fast for my 08 accord sedan V6.
It seems like your tail broke loose and changing lanes by itself on 110 north.

Good info - I've been thinking of going with the 70mm proflow one and matching my intake manifold but it might just be a waste of time. If I want more power, what's turning the boost up another pound?

if you look at the part number on the BOV and do a search on yahoo/google etc. there is a bunch of info on this...

OE Bosch TT 710A = THE STOCK DV FOUND IN ALL (1997 AND UP) AUDI TURBO MODELS, Audi part # 034-145-710A OR 06B-145-710, $

OE Bosch TT 710N = Basic, popular & low-budget upgrade, maintains stock look, not serviceable, Audi part# 06A-145-710-N, $ (some dealers charge more)

OE Bosch Sport 110 = MTM upgrade, same as 710N with "better" internals, not serviceable, $$
