Well I take that back no one has tried it cause if it does not work well your out of luck because liberty can't face plate the newer triple and double coated synchronized transmission
Now I have talked to some LS v8 guy's that clame 8500rpm shifts all day but not in that 9000+range

The Tremec T-56 Magnum looks very promising...it's a modded TR6060. Holding big power...It's guaranteed to 700ft-lbs.
Looks to be about as beefy as you can get and still keep syncros.

The only thing is the unknown rpm rating.

The problem with the stock trans is the case is too weak to support modding the gears for big power. The problem is the case starts to pull apart while the gears are meshed, which in turn causes the gears to pull away from eachother and putting all the power to the tips of them. This eventually causes the gear teeth to break.
Very pleased with my G-Force syncro helical-cut 5-speed T-5 derivative we put in back in '09. MGW shifter = same throws & less side-to-side play than stock when in-gear. I'd recommend 4.56s in the 8.8 and G-Force's .75 5th gear. I have 4.88s with .63 5th which gives better highway cruise RPM (900 less than stock), but there are some road courses where I'm nearing top of 4th (~ 125 MPH) and 5th is a bigger RPM drop than ideal in that scenario).
Great trans. Solid reliability, nice shift feel, no probs shifting at 8400 in my current build and had no probs when I was 2.0L with 9300 RPM shifts either. Primarily street & autocross use, but had no issues doing a couple of tuning passes at the strip until the 120+ trap speeds caught the attention of track officials.

It's going to be similar to this pic below (trans might be different). The plate you are buying bolts up to the stock bellhousing. Then that plate has the bolt pattern for the transmission.

Do they make a kit similar to this for the GForce 6 speed? I'd rather have that over the 4 or 5 speeds since mine is more wkend warrior on the streets with ocassional 1/8 mile track runs. Can we get the shifter to look good in the stock location with the clutch assist unit in the event I did go that route?
What's your thoughts on the V160 swap?

Yeah, the T56 but I think the Gforce unit is setup to shift good at high rpm, like 10k rpm. I could be wrong though. Can it be setup to bolt to the stock bellhousing like what Carey posted? That would be the ticket right there.

U don't have to buy the Gforce unit to get it to shift high. I didn't nor did bobby or chase buy the stock trans and have it face plated. What I did was buy then tranny out of the srt 10 viper truck it's strong than the other t56 boxes. The gears are also made from the same strength metal that gforce uses

Thats good to know. Hows the shifter placement? Does it set just like stock, cant tell its not factory?
I need to talk with Bobby, but im hoping we can get a company to make a kit that bolts the t56 to the stock bellhousing like Carey's pic and will also supply a trans mount. Would also be nice if i could stick with my cc twin clutch with the setup.
Also, what are you guys doing as far as getting the speedo to work properly with the t56?
With everything aside and only a cost difference, which trans do you think would be better.... The t56 or v160? That is, for someone that wants great driveability but can also dig race at times or street race and not worry about things?

^ spoolin I deff agree someone needs to make a t56 kit for our cars. V160 option is just way too expensive in my mind for another oem trans. T56s are way easier to find and easier on the wallet.

I think a bell housing company Bobby talked to was willing to make a steel housing that would bolt up to the honda engine, and the t56 transmission. The problem was they would be $1000+ unless they could have a certain amount of buyers up front, and then the cost would go down.

This guy: http://www.billsautofab.com/ makes custom bellhousings for TH350 and T56 for 4G63 for around $500-600
Maybe he would do an S2000?
