Can't decide!

So I'm stuck between going with a SOS stage 1 kit or a ct novi 1000 with a fresh rebuild (700 miles). Below I'll list what they come with. I'm realling looking to hit 400whp but I would be happy with 340ish. It's a weekend car and it gets pushed at times but not so often.

SOS stage 1 with 3k miles on it. Complete plug and play but not CARB legal. I'm in Cali :/

Ct novi 1000
FMIC kit
SOS 4 bar map
3" SOS pulley
Air filter with rubber hose and CT cf air box
Fuel pump
Tial bov

I like that the CT is CARB legal so I won't have to deal with police or whatever hassle. But I feel like I may not have enough space to reach my goal. Also if I upgrade the CT to let's say the 1200 or 1220, does it retain it's CARB legal?

Like I said I want to hit 340+. I've read a lot about FMIC an some people loose 4psi and others loose 1psi. I've read the pros and cons about both. What would you guys say would be better for my power goals?

You're not going to hit your goal of even 340whp unless you go with the stage two SOS kit. I have the stage 1 kit and made 280whp. I have to go with a stand alone and a smaller pulley of course to make more power, at that point it's the same as a stage 2 kit. Also will need bigger injectors of course and maybe a stronger clutch.

I've been on both sides with a turbo and an S/C. OP if you want raw power and to be FAST not QUICK then I would go with a turbo build any day over a S/C. After school I'm going the turbo route. When it's all said and done you'll spend the same on both builds.

Yea I kinda figured that with stage 1 I maybe would break 300whp. Im not looking to go crazy fast or be super fast up top. Looking more for quick throttle response and getting out of corners quick but something that will be strong enough to pull on cars on the freeway. Below is my cars set up

Ap1 with 94k miles
Compressions is 235 trough all 4 cylinders
Invidea q300 with stock cat
Engine is all stock too

If you want quick throttle response you're not going to get it with a S/C. A supercharger is going to build a linear boost curve meaning you don't hit full boost till redline. These are centrifugal superchargers. I don't even build boost till around 5 grand which is 1 PSI. With a smaller turbo like the GT3076 you could be at full boost at a little above 5 grand with 14lbs and even more. Now if you had a roots blower (which isn't offered for the S) then I would say go ahead because it's a similar power curve to a turbo. This is why it's a lose lose even if you want a quick throttle response or to try and pull on cars on the highway. If you go against another S with even a greddy kit making 340whp and say you're making the same power but with a S/C you're done don't even bother wasting gas.

Being on both ends of a turbo charged car (GSR-T hatch 343whp 247TQ) and my S, I can't wait for the day to go with a turbo build. OP what's stopping you from going with a T/C S?

Isent krafstwerks a roots blower and I believe two other too? I understand it's linear and full boost is reached at red line. That's not really a problem. I don't want to t/c for a few reasons. I want it to be a set up that I don't have to always be messing around with. 2, Its more stress on the internals of the engine since its not linear like a s/c is (don't want to bother opening the engine for work) and 3 it's more reliable with a s/c. Im not looking to break records or anythin. Im just wanting that little more power.

With my 6266 precision I'm on full boost at around 4800rpm. My SOS kit made 9psi at the same rpm only to hit 18psi by redline. The SOS kit was awesome but when your not on the gas all the time it gets boring. With turbo I can overtake on the highway without dropping a gear. Do it right the first time I say go turbo. You won't regret it!

I'm doing ok bud, I finally stepped up and got the novi 1200 and a few other goodies :)

Tell me about it, seems like there was always something that needs tweaking.. It's all fun and games though haha

I had the CTSC with a 3" pulley, you will make the 340 - 360 goal, but never get to 400.
