Are Comptechs numbers accurate?
According to Comptech/CT Engineerings website, the novi 1000 kit says "add 100 hp to the crank".. So In reality, our s2ks would have a total of 340hp with the addition of this kit. Figure we lose about 10% in transfer to the wheels... So now we have 306 hp to the wheels. Is this accurate? Has anyone dynoed the kit as it is(6psi) from CT? Does this apply to the after cooled kit also?

S2000 loses about 18% to the wheel I think.
Bolt on stock boost comptech kit usually puts down 280-290 ish hp I think. |
if your thinking of getting an S/C kit dont bother with the novi 1000 if they still offer it,
1220 or 1200 is the way to go |
Why do they advertise 306whp then? Plus I already got the kit and it's not bad... I deff feel the difference..

Different dyno's read different. Can vary up to 40 or more hp at that boost level. The gains are what are important.

Base Comptech with novi1000 with aftercooler nets 5 to 5.5psi and averages 290whp on a Dynojet. Their calculations are pretty accurate at 340 crank. 50hp loss through drivetrain on the s2000 is a safe estimate.

My baseline dyno came in at 183.3 RWHP on a Dyno Dynamics. That is a 23.5% loss from crank to rear wheels, which sounds huge. But its Dyno Dynamics, which is known (much like the Mustang Dyno) to read lower than a DynoJet. People call the Dyno Dynamics "the heartbreaker" for a good reason, lol. After STR mods I hit 205.5 RWHP on the same dyno. As someone said, its not about the final number, its the gains that dynos can really tell us. I would say that the 100 HP gain number given by CT is accurate. What final number that puts you at is up to the dyno you use. |
I also think it's accurate.
~280-290whp is *about* a 100crhp gain. As another point of reference, I did the SOS kit. Same boost as the CT kit (1220 blower and more comprehensive electronics) and I went from 191whp to 306whp (+20F, 95F on the latter). That's on a Mustang dyno, which reads lower than a dynojet or dynapack, but a little higher (from what I hear) versus a dyno dynamics. Indicated boost was right at 5psi. I had thought that CT switched over to the Novi 1220. While boost on both is pretty much the same in the kits, the 1220 will do it more efficiently with less heat. A 1200 will make more boost at any speed than the 1220 (and thus 1000 too), but it has a more efficient range for higher power applications. |
