CTSC Aftercooler Flush

How often do I have to replace/flush my aftercooler?

How do I do it? Can anyone post a DIY?

What should I fill it with water/antifreeze/water wetter?

And how much should I put in? Capacity?

Thanks! :D

It should not need a flush ever. You should use distilled water and water wetter. If you are in an area with freezing a little anti-freeze might be indicated.

It holds approx 1/2 gallon.

Typically yes, thats what is recomended.

Fill it so that its a couple inches bellow the fill cap, so when it heats up and expands it has some room to do so, make sure and cycle it through the system so you get the right level. It ends up being about a full bottle of water wetter and the rest water.

Shouldn't there only be a 3 caps fulls of water wetter in the whole resvoir?

I followed the water wetter instructions and if I recall correctly only used 2 or 3 cap fulls.

Comptech install instructions state to use a full bottle of water wetter and then the rest distilled water.

Edit - Must have been trippin' when I thought I read this... can't find it in the CT instructions.

Step #18: Filling/Bleeding AftercoolerFill the aftercooler with bottled water and Redline Water Wetter (620-028—Not Included ) to Prevent corrosion. A 50/50 water/antifreeze mixture is also acceptable.
Note: If unit is to be used in climate where freezing temperatures may occur, it should be filled with a 50/50 water /antifreeze mixture to prevent freezing and subsequent rupture of aftercooler and potential engine damage.
System uses approx 1/2 gallon fluid.

From my instructions...does not tell you how much water wetter to use? I followed the directions on the bottle...and I think it was 3 caps.

Yeah 3 cap fulls is nothing. I have always used a full bottle and then fill the rest with water, it works out to being close to a 50/50 ratio. Water wetter doesnt heat up like water does, so it keeps the temps down. fights corrosion as well. Just treat it like anti freeze. 3 caps would be almost pointless I think.
