S2000 Forced Induction S2000 Turbocharging and S2000 supercharging, for that extra kick.

Do you think an F/I s2000 is my cup of tea?

Default Do you think an F/I s2000 is my cup of tea?

Ok so I have looked at the E46 M3, the EVO, the C5 Corvette and after all that I am pretty much looking for something else... they are all great cars but either suffer from fit and finish issues, repair and maintenance issues or they just aren't "hot looking" cars. So I am turning to the s2000 for help.

In stock form it is too slow in a straight line for me, if I am going to deal with no torque I need something faster... the handling, braking and overall feel of the car is great but I think it'd be perfect with more power. I have some questions... after some research I feel that my best route is to supercharge. Linear power and it seems to be much more reliable.

Can I count on having this car for 3+ years driving it as much as possible with a S/C kit and be able to maintain the reliability that Honda is known for? This will be driven as much as possible with my 1998 Accord being the back up if weather gets too bad. I doubt I will ever track the car besides maybe a few times just to see what it's got...

I hear these cars have some weak components and parts that are expensive to replace like the rear diff... clutch and transmission. I have also heard that it takes one mis shift to totally say BYE BYE to your motor, this worries me. Makes me paranoid to drive the damn thing in fear of the money shift.

Will making the 300whp (I'm guessing that is what I'd get after a S/C kit) make this car an unbalanced, unnatural feeling tire shredder and drivetrain breaker?

Is it as simple as buying myself say a $15-16,000 lower mileage AP1 and buying the Comptech kit and having it installed with a custom tune? I live in PA and weather changes quite a bit I wouldn't want to go tear assing in my love and have it blow up on me because it wasn't tuned for the right season or something.

Will this car fit the bill? Or should I look elsewhere? Or I could buy a well done S/C s2000 as is?

Modifry did over 150,000 miles on his CTSC'd S2000 before compression started to drop in the motor.

First, the transmission isn't weak and the rear end is debatable. They have been known to go for some, not for others.

You can make 300whp extremely reliably. I did so for 2 years and then did a standalone and decided to bump the boost for some more kick.

Greddy turbo kits will get you your desired power levels...personally, I would do a low boost Inline Pro turbo kit for a daily driver. It will make you between 300 and 350whp with gobs of torque and they are proven. The Kraftwerks superchargers look promising. I am anxious to see how they'll fair with time.

300whp is no sweat for this motor/car. 400whp takes a bit more work but can be done reliably. 500whp is gonna need some reinforcement but can still be done without emptying your life savings.

Worry about the "money shift" with any car. Don't downshift from 5th to 2nd and you won't have a problem. I don't see why you'd have any more to fear with this drivetrain as compared to any other. In fact, it's been proven the S2000 2.0/2.2 liter motors are quite stout.

Have you considered an FD RX-7? Definitely a fun car...had one before the S2000.

Nothing like spinning the tires when you are walking away from a Caymen S , not to mention all the thumbs up I get on the road . I hope the motor lasts cause its way too much fun to ever go back to N/A S2000. I feel confident that with the tune Taon has done, at 10PSI & 300RWHP I am well within safe operating limits of the motor, I guess time will tell

I had a bone stock Vortech kit on my car for quite a bit, was rock solid reliable. Add a geared differential (which I also had) and it makes for one hellof a fun car. Til this day, nothing major has ever broke on my S.
