Thumbs up Duct work for my Greddy Kit

Hey, so I did some experimenting and after driving around for a while, my engine bay gets very warm, so I then popped the hood while I was driving (obviously just the initial latch, so about a inch open to 1/2 inch open), I noticed the temps DROPPED significantly after just getting some fresh air in there. Anyone pop out those fake Brake cooling duct covers on the front bumper and use some type of aluminum tubing to have some outside air either run into your air filter, or blow some fresh air over the turbo itself? Basically a design similar to the little dinky aluminum duct that comes with the Greddy kit, but on a larger, more functional scale?

i am running a 3inch tube from my turbo to the passanger side hole near the light. I then have a 90 degree turn that goes into the fender. My filter is attached to that. After datalogging, i found that my temps were about 20 degrees colder all around, and my high boost wouldnt increase in temperature when i started boosting. In fact, it would start to decrease!

i do the same thing. i have an AP1 and i took the little square on the pasenger side and cut it out. i then bought the biggest PVC pipe i could finde (just the 45 degree bends) and painted them black inside and out. once i got the angles facing directly at my turbo i went to my local auto parts store and bought this 3 inch bendable piping and connected to the PVC pipe and ran it directly to the turbo.

I am hoping this will keep the turbo sucking in cold air and make it more effective. Boost only does so much when sucking in hot air. it can make much more HP sucking in cold air

EVF S2000 did this. He ran some high temperature plastic or silicon 3-4 inch tubing from the brake duct up into the engine bay near the air filter. He said it made a noticeable difference especially at highway speeds.

on the topic of lower under hood temps, i came across some old posts last night of the earlier turbo guys removing the rubber weather stripping at the front of the cowl (above the firewall), which leaves a 1/2" channel to "suck" the hot air out of the engine bay when in motion.

will this really increase power or just a myth about colder air?
