Ferrera springs

Don't ferrera springs need ferrera seat locators ? For seats don't you have to remove the head ? I may be wrong but please correct me.

I didn't plan to remove the head, but I wanted to do ferrera springs and retainers/keepers with the air tool that holds the valves shut

Yeah, you will need specific spring seats to the valve spring you choose.

Spring seats are on top of the head and valve seats are in the combustion chamber. You do not need to remove the head to change out the valves springs if you fill the cylinder with air.

Just an FYI, a buddy of mine had a problem installing them but he didn't know that with the dual spring kit from ferrea for the s you use both the oem valve spring seat and the ferrea seat on top of that.

Wow, that's pretty interesting... Never heard of using a spring seat in addition to another

you dont need to replace the seals.. just get the spring off.. put the new seat locator on top and then the spring and retainer.. good to go :) good luck! :tipwink:

Eh, I'd still do it regardless. For under $50 it's pretty cheap insurance, and since you have them off, might as well do it. It's just like replacing the water pump anytime you replace the timing belt on a B, D, H, or earlier F series. It may still be good for many miles, by why take the chance?

I guess the same could be said for brand new parts failing, but meh...

true. i just put these in and will be upgrading to their valves soon so i didnt bother.

Is there any type of break in period or anything with ferrera valve springs and retainers
