Is FI for me?
Hello all, can anyone help me out?
Sorry if this seems like a dumb topic but I don't post much and really didn't know where else to go with my questions.
Let me start by saying that I am young and that the S is my first real entry into the sports car world. I love the car and am extremely impressed with the performance from the factory... Just thinking about taking it a step further.
My S is my DD and my only car at this point so if i go FI i need something that will be reliable for quite some time, I also track the car once a month or so. (just to encompass all I use the car for)
I'm just in need of some real knowledgeable insight as to whether I should save up and go FI (T/C or S/C advice welcome) or if it would be safer/smarter of me to stay N/A and invest my money elsewhere in the car.
Thanks. and to clarify my initial query, Being that my car is my DD it's more a question of reliability for me. I know I'll never be as reliable as stock but I'd hope to get around 400whp or so if I go FI and I suppose I'm looking for the most reliable setup to get myself there.

I would start with a basic new SC like SOS.
Do not buy the self lube option, failures have happened.
Turbo makes better power but alot more maintenance and things to break. If it was my only car I would have defiantly gone s/c and SOS has the best kit I think
I would pick up a cheap beater first so that if something does go wrong then you're not shit out of luck. Plus you can then afford downtime with your s2k while you're installing and tuning the car. Takes a lot of pressure off you and scheduling everything perfectly.

The one snag is you won't technically be street legal anymore if this concerns you. Most of us aren’t I would say. Its all a bit risky when you start upping the power to these levels. If you actually want to be CARB approved/legal. Then you could pick up the base 5psi/280whp Comptech SC kit and run that. Its what I started with before I upped the boost. Its reliable as hell and will still give you a nice taste of power over N/A. If you up the boost later, no one would know, you still have a CARB aproved device on your car.

If you do just a basic SC kit I think you will be OK. Even if its your only car IMO. You should call SOS and speak with them, look at other post on the forum, learn as much as you can. Find a tuner shop or someone who can help you that has vast knowlege of how to run FI on a S2000. Then make your choice to do it.
Drive the car around for a year or so and get used to it's handling characteristics and power, especially if you've never owned a sports car before. Then think about going FI.
I disagree with not FI'ing your DD. Mine has been for two out of the three years I've owned it. If you're knowledgeable and have a good understanding of the car and can fix it when things go wrong, then I think it's a viable option. If not, then I totally agree.
