FMIC with a S/C
ive seen some people running a front mount with a s/c. i was wondering what are peoples thoughts on this. better performance. i like the look personally. any thoughts would be appreciated
|
I also had the same question. I bet the front mount produces a lot more heat than out aftercooler. Plus, the SC turbine is different...?
|
Just make sure your piping isn't crazy wide or you'll lose substantial boost pressure.
|
IMHO, FMIC is a step backward in performance. Centrifical superchargers have a limited amount of boost and anything that decreases boost will decrease the ultimate performance. The aftercoolers marketed by Vortech and Comptech do a great job of lowering intake charge temperature. ;)

Lots of work for very little (if any) performance gain. |
but the vortech system for the z uses a front mount. i get what your saying also. but like if you up'ed the boost and had the front mount, wouldnt you be fine?
|
there are a few people out there that did have the FMIC setup with a centrifugal supercharger and they said they lost barely any boost tho  if there was ever a FMIC setup for my comptech unit that did not lower boost and made a difference in cooling (in a good way) ide be all over it.
|
what i dont get tho is basically the same S/C that vortech makes for the Z comes with a fmic

I have a FMIC Setup on my S2k, Running a 12psi Pulley and my Greedy Boost Gauge Reads 12psi, My Piping is 3' diameter!
No Performance loss Here  http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...07/Charger.jpg |
yeh i member talking to you about it and you said you didnt have any loss... i was just seeing what other people thought
