Default forced induction is the devil

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

sorry had to let that out.

Im pretty sure my new motor is done for.. it turns out one of the lines on my AEM meth kit came loose before the check valve. So for a few days I was driving with with no meth making it to the IC piping. The only reason its not totally blown yet is I was taking it easy this past week & it has been a bit cooler outside. I watch my AF gauge, but not constantly, so I didnt see any super lean conditions.

I started to see oil smoke from the tailpipe a few days ago, so I did a compression test.
230, 200, 195, 200
A few months ago this freshly installed motor was 250 in each. Still need to do a leak down test, just waiting on someone in NY to help me with that.

Not sure how I should proceed from here. Money is tight, in a few days Ill have an extra $1000 , plus another $1000 to use on my my credit card.
The car still drives and pulls ok for now, but its only a matter of time before the rings totally crack and then Im screwed. Might be a week, might be a month. Its smoking a bit every time i drive the car. The motor shakes when coming to a stop too, idle dips and then returns to normal.

1. Can my short block be replaced with the kind of funds I have? IE remove head, hone cylinders & put in new pistons or rings while motor is in the car?

2. Or should I just get another used engine, drop it in, sell my turbo kit & try and live with NA for a while?

3. other options????

thanks guys..

I would politely advise that you not pour all this money into a car if you're living by the paycheck and needing to take on debt. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

Thats good advice. I blew a $5K bonus a few months ago to put in this new motor and upgrade my kit, I really wish I would have kept it NA at the time.

Your sig says 12psi and 410 hp. My mase kit made 422 @ 13psi so why do u need meth at 12psi and 410hp?

Thats the worst part, I didnt really need it. But after blowing my first motor I thought I would get meth as an added safety measure & to add to the longevity of the motor. But it ended up being my downfall.

Sorry to hear about this Kevin...

I'd say it might be doable to pull the longblock apart, and have it machined and reassembled with new rings and be alright.

Another option could be to just pull the kit off for now and drive it as is N/A. If you're not ragging on the car you most likely won't do any more damage than what's done. That could give you some time to sell the turbo parts, save some money up, and fix it properly without the big financial strain.

Either way I'd definitely do the leak down test first.

Suzuka...the reason he would need meth at those levels is because the log manifolds are much more susceptible to detonation than your mase kit.

I wondered if he has a log manifold. That's problem #1

Boost can cover up bad ring and valve seal.. Keep adding oil.

Sorry to hear your loss.

I'd drive it, enjoy it, fall is almost here...with winter right behind it.

Gives you time to figure out what you need to do, and go from there.

No need to hurry at this point.
