Fuel and Drivetrain Suggestions - PTuning Turbo Setup

So I got in on the latest PTuning group buy. Last update has me expecting the kit to be delivered around the end of January. I'm getting all the supporting parts together and last thing is fuel and drivetrain. I went with the GTX3076r, i'm running Hondata KPro (I have a 2005 S2K), and I will be on E85 . I'm ordering SoS's E85 kit, the AEM rail and FPR, but i'm making final decisions on injectors, pump, clutch, and flywheel. From what I'm reading on the forum, I can push 20-22 psi on E85 pretty safely on this setup, so that's more or less the max I'm aiming for - I'm getting around high 400s low 500s HP. Also, this car isn't for the track (i go, but not frequently, and haven't taken this car yet). Just fun driving around town and not a daily driver.
  1. Are ID1300s sufficient or do I need to go bigger? the ID 2000s only cost about $60 more right now, and I'm buying in the next day or two. Don't mind going up.
  2. Should I go with the AEM 320 or the Walbro 450? Both are E85 compatible. I'll get whatever is needed.
  3. I have a new AP1 flywheel. I was leaning toward the ACT PP and OEM disk, since everyone seems to rave over this combo. Or, is there something else I should be getting? Also, AP1 slave? I've read about the delay in AP2s.
Appreciated.

1st thing I want to know what power goals you have the issue with the ACT PP and OEM disk will come down to power; they can start to slip a bit over 400 tq if you plan to run 20 + psi you might be well into those numbers.
They have been reported pretty solid up to 400 to 500whp range without issue. But that one of the limiting factors. You want to get have to upgrade might as well go over kill.
As far as injectors what are you power goals

This can be helpfull here
I don't have any option on the fuel pumps; never used or seen them. But i own the clutch and I love it

Got ya. I think I'm aiming for high 400s - low 500s HP. Based on other people with very comparable builds, if I achieve those, I'll be just under or around the 400 tq range.

If you're only going for 500, then you should be fine with the 1300s. I did the PTuning kit with the GTX3576, Walbro 450 and ID1700s. If you're going to be running 20psi, you'll end up closer to 550hp I would think.

I'm also running a twin disk Exedy clutch/flywheel. If you're interested in buying it, I'm swapping to a 350z trans so its a different clutch setup again.

Good to know about the HP.
How's the feel of the Exedy setup?

Welcome to the Ptuning club! I have GTX3582 G2 on my kit. Feel free to reach out to me with questions, I can also install everything for you if are interested.

Don't forget to shave the motor mount inserts before install.
Don't forget to use Mitsubishi EVO hard pipes for the coolant lines attached to the turbo.

ACT HDSS/OEM Disc will only hold 17psi (ask me how I know)

Thank me later:
  • remove the valve in the AP2 slave or buy the AP1 slave in conjunction with the following clutch
  • SOS Sport 400 clutch (a little touchy on initial starts in 1st, but should hold 20-22 psi). Pedal feel is SOFTER than stock
  • ID1300 if you plan to run 93 and e85, with a goal of approx 600whp on a dyno jet (80-85% duty cycle with 65% base fuel pressure)
  • If you want more than 600whp, go with ID2000 and E85 only and you can run stock base fuel pressure
  • Go with the Walbro 295 pump. It is the same body as the 450, but no check valve and flows significantly more fuel with 2 amps less draw.
  • For a first timer, buy the SOS fuel pump relay kit, but swap out the relay to a different brand, they tend to fail.
    • If you are experienced, buy the wire terminals and make your own kit.

Listen to this man, he knows his stuff. Dustin has saved me from certain doom by heeding his advice, along with countless dollars and hours of grief.

GREATLY appreciate the info. thanks! Wish we lived anywhere near each other and I'd probably take you up on the offer. I will definitely reach out for support, if/when needed. And I'll grab the SOS Sport 400

I personally have been running the ptuning kit with the gen1 gtx3076r for many many years. I have also had quite a few different turbo setups on this car prior to the pruning kit and the pruning kit is by far the best kit for the s2000.

on e85 at over 20 psi with a gen 2 gtx3076r you should be making well over 500whp. Probably closer to 600whp. Although you be at the upper limits of the id1300cc injectors these are the best and largest injectors to get that will not affect street drivability just turn the base pressure up to about 65psi. I have personally own used and had the car professionally tuned on all the injectors like Id1000 , id2000s, fic 1650, and id1300. The 1650,s/1700s and 2000s I have had drivability issues.

go with the walbro 450 with the sos install kit. This pump is good to 700whp on e85 with out issues.

Use to own the act pressure plate and stock disc combo and it dident last long at over 500whp but at 91/93 octane sub 500whp level it was fine. I have been running the sos carbon twin disc for years now and it’s the best clutch on the market for the s2000. Pedal is as soft as stock, drivability is like stock and it will hold 1000+ whp but of course this clutch is expensive. Some people have had good luck with the sos sport clutch at the 500-600whp level. What ever you do dont ever go with a puck style single disc clutch your drivability will severely suffer.

Really appreciate this info! Thanks so much!
I've heard mixed reviews of the SoS sport 400 but haven't found or been recommended any good alternatives.
