Default GM 3 Bar Map Sensor Question.

Hey guys, i've been saving my pennies for my turbo project and in the mean time i'm trying to learn everything that I can in regard to going the turbo route and doing things the right way the first time around. One thing that i'm confused on is how to hook up a GM 3 Bar Map Sensor that I see many turbo'd s2k's using. I know that the stock map is only good until about 11 or 12psi so I would like to use a 3 Bar map sensor, but I don't understand how they hook up to the stock sensor harness. Is their some type of an adapter ? I'll be running an AEM EMS, but i'm confused on how to install a GM 3 bar sensor in place of the stock map sensor. I know that you can't simply replace the stock sensor w/ a GM part that was made for a car from 1990, so if anyone can help clear this up for me as far as how to install this it would help me out as I am confused about this. I know this may seem like I have no idea what I am talking about, but I have done alot of research on turbo s2k's and for some reason I don't know how this works or is installed. Thanks -Michael.

there are 3 wires for the stock map and GM sensors
you slice the stock map sensors and test the wires current
read the manual that comes with the GM sensor and hook it up to the appropriate wires. Then hook the 3bar map sensor to a manifold vaccum hose.

Is it really that big a diffrence? Really all it does is give you more spread with your map......more cells to work with really right?

The difference is the factory sensor stops putting out readable signal somewhere around 11.4 lbs boost. To go above that you should change the MAP sensor.

No, if your running less than 11psi than its a waste as it will make no difference to you, but if you plan to run more than that then the stock map sensor needs to be replaced.

I bought mine from Torquefreaks.com
It's so cheap that I dont think it matter where you buy it.

I think AEM has their own map/pressure sensor. I can't recall how much but I think it's slightly more epensive. The GM works fine on my car up to 20 psi so far.
