Greddy turbo kit alternate fitment of turbos confirmation
I have read through all the past previous threads and I just want to ensure that I have the information regarding different/bigger turbo's that will bolt on directly to the greddy turbo kit (I have the pfab ported replacement manifold) but since the flange is the same it won't matter for this discussion:
Original turbo in the kit: T518z/18g GT25 flanged 5 bolt exit alternatives: T618z/18g GT3071R GT3076 20g Which of these have been confirmed to bolt-on directly to the greddy kit?...how will the above turbo's behave compared to each other in terms of low-end vs. top-end and spool characteristics vs the original T518z/18g included with the kit...which is the best in terms of these? No rhetoric about getting a different turbo kit, etc. This is purely about fitment and confirming the information I have is correct/incorrect. Thank you ahead of time! |
Oooooooo interesting thread!

Do a search, there's an entire thread about fitment of other turbos on the greddy kit.
|
I did do an extensive search...there is no solid information out there about how each turbo actually fits and it's comparative characteristics to the Greddy supplied 18g...mostly conjecture, scattered information amongst many threads, and guessing.
I would like to consolidate and solidify the information. |
good question. id like to know as well.
|
I would too. Very good question. I want to know what options are out there if I need to replace or rebuild my turbo.

me too i got a greddy kit and its running like crap

I would like to consolidate and solidify the information. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/705...greddy+upgrade That has pretty much all the information you're going to need. EngineerX basically wrote out a step-by-step on this. |
Thank you for that link, I couldn't find that one. Nonetheless, that is only for that specific turbo...definitely not easy from the looks of it, quite a few things need to be changed. Hopefully someone will chime in here with more experience with other turbos and perhaps ones that bolted in even easier.

https://www.s2ki.com/...pgrade-gt3071r/ https://www.s2ki.com/...a-hybrid-t620z/ There's a few more threads for you. Personally I would either machine out the 518z like Kitesurfer did, or call Pfab and ask them to build a custom Greddy replacement log with a T3 flange positioned to fit a GT3076R in that space. A T3-flanged 30R gives you 400+whp potential plus your choice of external or internal wastegate. Pfab replacement manifold (call and see if he'll do a T3 instead of T25) http://www.pfabricat...nc/sdetail/2040 Cost estimate: Manifold: $409 from Pfab GT3076R: $800 from someone on this site Downpipe: $250 from a local shop / tuner Sell Greddy turbo/mani/dp: -$600 Total cost: $859 Less than $1k to hit 400+whp ain't bad. Of course, add more $ if you change to an external wastegate, and remember you'll need bigger injectors to get much above 350whp. I didn't include a guess at the oil/water line costs because I haven't really looked into those yet. |
