Gt3582r vs gtx3582r
Hey everyone'
As you've probably seen from my other posts, Im in the process of replacing my CHRA out of my GT3582. I have the option of upgrading my CHRA to a GTX3582 for an additional cost. Im trying to figure out if the upgrade is worth it. I have an IP stage 1 kit making approx 400 wheel with the 35 @ 14psi. From what Ive read, it seems the gets really shines at higher boost levels with a little added midrange in lower levels. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Thanks |
my understanding is the GTX will produce more power and only spool minimally
i do not have personal experience with either turbo, but for the kit im getting, i went with the GTX turbo because it was only a $300 difference... and the potential alone was worth it to me. |
The GTX should spool Minimally "faster" not slower. As long as your talking about the same frame size models and just GT/GTX difference... everything else the same tho.
Glad you got ur ol lady to come around memo  lol I as well can't use my experience tho. because the gt3582 was a TS, and the gtx3582 I have now is a t4 open scroll lol you can see the difference between both on my new build thread tho. The Dyno graph has my new plot overlapping the old kit. |
gtx35 gen2
Same price as the first gen gtx. These turbo's are a big upgrade compared to the first gen gtx or gt |
Just make sure the turbo will fit before you buy it. If I remember correctly I think inline pro had used a slightly smaller compressor housing for the 35r to allow it to fit in the tight space.

So it appears the cost isn't worth it. I can get a standard GT CHRA for ~500 and a GTX adds an additional 700 onto that. Speaking with Jeff Evans, unless you're running 20+ psi, it isnt worth the price difference. Also, yes the IP kit uses a smaller 3" compressor housing so I doubt the larger 4" will fit without some extreme modification.
