Default Head porting companies

Im currently looking into getting my head ported and browsing possible companies to do it. It seems the price range varies alot depending on how far you want to go.

A little backgound on my setup: CTSC'ed running a 7lb pulley and front mount intercooler.

Ive called a local repected shop that has done honda head work in the past anf they wanted $300 for a full head porting, i do not think they do any intake/exhaust valve jobs though.

Portflow.com

I guess my question is, Is it worth the extra 600+ for the competition/top of the line headwork? My budget is $600-$1200 and I would be perfectly happy with 330-360+whp on my setup with 9lbs with a ported head. I currently have new ap1 exhaust retainers and ap2 intake retaners and all new keepers. Also is it worth it to get all new valves?

I have a head that has been built by Alaniz. Ported and polished with oversized valves and Ti retainers. This was built from a new factory head and has only about 4000 miles on it. If interestes, let me know and I will remove it from my sprare engine. But it will cost $850 plus shipping.

Special ops, I dont think his had the competition headwork dont to it, just a mild port job or the streetmaster work. What headwork do you have done by alaniz?

Whats everybodys opinion on Ti retainers, Ive head from several people these wear thin at around 20k miles and need to be replaced. Not somthing I would look forward to doing even though im pretty sure I could just do it by removing the valve cover.

I'm curious to know what kind of numbers a ported and polished head are putting down. I've heard that our heads are better off getting the valves, springs, and retainers done because there isn't much of a gain from the port and polish.
