Default High Idle?

Car is idling way high.

I did a boost/vac check on the intake side.

I have a diy pressure tester, and it holds pressure fine, so much so it starts to push the pistons down.

I disconnected the throttle cable to see if that was an issue..and no go.

Basically as soon as you start the car cold, it idles about 1500 or so, which is normal...then once you rev it, it will not come down past 2k, and sometimes even a little higher.

So I'm sorta stumped.

After I had the car tuned, I had it out the very next night for 5 mins...had an exhaust rattle, and it sat for 4-5 days until I got it fixed.

Took it out a few days ago, and the idle was jacked from the get go?

Thoughts?

its one of two things, TPS, or IACV, I have had NUMERSOUS issues with both of these items, and METH sure as hell doesnt help

If you start the car cold and it idles fine for a minute or two then goes high, its the IACV, if it does it RIGHT away, its TPS

TPS!!!! i had the same issue...

joey... the meth is only cuz the throttle body leaks... when i had mine rebuilt my Science of Speed.. it was leaking Methanol BADDDDDDD!!! like when the car was on the dyno you could see it just pouring out of the throttle body.

but ever since then.. i bought a BDL throttle body and it for sure sealed it up perfectly :-D

but that was my experience... maybe when yours is on the dyno check it out and see if it leaks when giving full throttle

First is to take of IACV and inspect it, I knew mine was bad because the little flapper valve thing was sticking. To check the TPS, just test the Voltage coming from it. If it is that, there is a GREAT DIY thread on here, I usually get mine from Omni Power, they are like $60.00 Honda sells the WHOLE throttle Body but what you do is dremmel slits in the rivets to get the OEM tps sensor off then replace it and adjust its position so IDLE reads like .45v or something like that. There is a sticky in the Under the Hood section

based on what you said though, it sounds like the IACV, its easy to take off and inspect, just annoying because coolant spills out a little bit

Just a thought but did you try starting the car and going under the hood and trying to turn the tbody butterfly closed? I know sometimes these things stick a little from gunk and grimeg

What is the IACV and where is it located? Just in case I ever have a problem with mine.

Well I can't get the IACV part off the other part lol, looks to have torks (star) screws.

So, I figure I'll stop at harbor freight tomorrow and pick those ups I guess.

I can't tell if the IACV is bad or not..I don't know what you are talking about the flap sticking?

Anyway, I'll order one..and "hope" thats it.

I unplugged the sensor and fired the car up..it went right to were it was sticking before..actually alittle higher..in the 2500 range.
