I can't remove my spark plugs, WTF

I figured I would check my plugs this morning, so I am able to turn them, however it almost feels like Im tightening them, did my head get too hot and melt the threads or something? I don't want to just keep turning it to the left and hope it comes loose. I tried to cyclinders and both are acting the same way. The block is cold, any idea of the issue? The highest egts I saw was 1200F, and the highest water temp was 214F towards the top of the 5th during the run.

FWIW, when I put them in, I torqued them down to recommended setting

CY 1 &2 come out fine, which makes me think its a heat issue, FML

Did you use some anti-seize?

No, they move freely, but just don't come loose, almost like I'm trying to tighten them......

That is bad news my friend. You sure they are not coming out? How many turns did you attempt?

Enough to know I shouldn't continue if you know what I mean. What do you think caused it?, too much heat?

I mean at this point I could just keep turning it and see if it will come out,MIT looks like I can't damage it any more than I already did?

oh snap :/

redboost10 09-28-2012 06:44 AM

always use anti-seize when installing plugs

JoeyBalls 09-28-2012 06:48 AM

I think there cross threaded, FML

Try starting it and letting it warm up a little. The head may have warped slightly with the heat.

SLINKYDOG 09-28-2012 06:58 AM

they can only be cross threaded if you installed them that way. ALWAYS use anti-seize.
i have had they happen many times in the past. i use "BG" products in-force penetrating oil that foams when sprayed. shot some down around the base of the spark plugs. let sit fo a minute or so. then try to turn each plug until it stop, evan if it is only 1/16-1/8 turn. spray it again and go to the next sprak plug. it my take awhile but they will come out.:tipwink:
