ID2000 injectors idle problems

Hey guys,

I've been meaning to make a thread about this and am now getting around to it.

I recently got the ID2000 injectors in and most of the tuning on e85 is completed. The only problem my tuner and I are having is with idle. He said it has happened on all Honda's he has tuned with ID2000 injectors but never with any of the FIC2150's he has tuned on other vehicles. He hasnt tuned any of the ID2000's on anything but a couple of Honda's so he cant compare them on other vehicles. We just cant figure out what the deal is with the idle on these ID2000's....

What is going on is...If you try to get the A/F at anything leaner than 13.2, the engine oscillates about 400 rpm. Open the injectors up and pour fuel into it and get the A/F to 13.2 at idle and it pretty much goes away. Whats weird is, the injectors need to be opened more at idle than they do at 1500-2000 rpm cruising. In driving conditions under boost, my injector pulse widths are lower than they are at idle which is very odd. My tuner/friend said that as far as the milliseconds of the injectors goes, in the MAP on the AEM at idle it is real high and then as rpm goes up with very moderate cruising, it drops and then when boost comes in, the graph goes back up again. He said he has never seen a MAP look like this with any injector but the ID2000's.

Why wont these injectors idle at normal A/F's? Is there something my tuner and I are missing with these injectors that needs done to get them to idle in the normal A/F range or is this just normal with these? We know the latency values and everything are correct.

So you also know, I have the base fuel pressure set at 45 psi with the vacuum line off (35 psi with it on).

I would like to know too as I am having some issues as well. I'm having the same small oscillating idle...

13.2 afr at idle is fairly normal for large injectors such as these.

you can try to alter a few things if you're really trying to get it 'leaner' modify the injector phasing/ignition timing.

Don't listen to this guy with his fancy tuning and words like Leaner and Phasing

Just lower the fuel pressue and increase the idle to 2000RPM and call it a day.

I thought we got you idling smooth last night at closter to 14:1?

If you are only having small issues then you should be able to tune that out of it vary easily.

After it warmed up, it started surging a little bit while running a tad leaner. I'll richen it up to 13.0 and see how that helps.

I'd be happy to look over these files and see if there is anything out of place. T1race@gmail.com is my email.

As far as only having this problem with ID2000's and not FIC 2150's, your tuner sounds like an FIC salesman. The only difference between the two is a better matched set of injectors and filters incorporated in the tops of the ID's, neither of which would have that kind of effect.

Send over the file if you'd like me to check it out.

That's really strange. I actually just got off the phone with my tuner/friend and he was talking about a project he recently worked on with ID2000's. He stated they were the best injector that he's worked with. I'm wondering if you guys are missing something in the setup???

I'd take Tony up on his generous offer.

Thanks guys, I'll see about having the file sent to Tony. We may try messing with the injector phasing and see what that does first though.

Thanks also to Tony.

What is your injector pulsewidth at idle?
