installed pro.. or self

hi, i just ordered a custom kit (well pieced together) i was gonna put it together myself with some help with friends and take it to a shop to get tuned afterwards, i was talkin to the shop and they said he would tune and install for about $1,300 so my question is.. is it worth paying 1,300 for installing it and tuned or is it simple enough to install it yourself and just have it tuned?
thanks
i really apprecaite it!!

installing the kit yourself is worth so much more than just the money saved. its better to know your own car inside and out in case something goes wrong.

can a full install be done within 8 hours ?

blueap2 Jul 20, 2009 10:14 PM

yup, if you have all the tools....

If you have the tools, the time, the location, and a bit of patience, it's worth doing it yourself. If you're missing a few of those, it's a good idea to take it to a shop. If the kit is 100% complete, bolt-on, then installing yourself should be easy. Some kits are 'bolt-on', but they still require welding and fabrication...

jw but does anyone know how to get to the fuel pump?
thanks

Judging from this previous question, you may want to leave yourself more than 8 hours down time to complete the install.

Take the pop tabs out around the rear tray. Pop up and remove rear tray. Remove spare tire and trunk interior. See fuel pump area. Start work.

what is the average install time for a complete kit?

I installed a b series kit and it was very easy, pretty much bolt on but most people on here say it takes a couple of days for the s but I dont see how.
