Hey guys, next month I will be buy a supercharger and i'm not really sure how to do this. My main concern is over powering my car. I do not want so much power that when i'm tracking it, i cant really control it. HKS puts out around 330 where as Kraftwerks puts out 400. what is ideal HP for the s2000 to keep its good balance and handling? I know with the mods that I will have done to the car, it will exceed the 330hp with the HKS and also with the 400hp from Kraftwerks. I feel pushing close to 500 whp may be a little tooo much for a tracked s2000?? or is the s2000 capable of handling that much power and handle perfectly? this may sound stupid but even in games when I use the s2000, going over 450whp makes it spin out and the handling is def. not how its supposed to be. Please help me create a good function set up with either or supercharger. Thanks everyone. and if anyone is wondering where I'll be getting my work done, it will be at Kingz Performance here in Orlando Fl. Of course they want me to put as much power as possible into it to run it down the strip, but im not interested in the drag life. All feed back is welcomed and appreciated, thank you.

Firstly you will want the most amount of power out of the supercharger you can get. You can modulate the power with your right foot anyway. Why not go with the proven SOS system? You can always run a larger pulley if you want less power.

Lastly, I urge you to review some of the threads about Kings Performance in FL. I would not give those guys one damn cent of my money considering some of the shoddy engine work they have performed, as well as the treatment of some of their customers. Ultimately it's your decision

Hks is an expensive kit. And the traction oil for it is rediculously expensive. Despite all the issues people have had with the kraftwerks kit i feel most the issues have been sorted out.i have a kraftwerks kit and i love it. I have had no issues with it. And i make 460whp on the standard pulley for ap1.ypu can always throw in some race gas for the track for safety.

When going from stock to just over 400 whp with the KW kit, I had to learn to drive the car on track again. It does keep the great S2000 handling characteristics, but with the supercharger the throttle response is more sensitive. And of course, you can spin out at higher speeds.

With 400+ whp, that gives us close to 500 hp at the crank (assuming the "rule of thumb" 15% power loss for drive train, tires on the dyno etc.). This provides a power to weight ratio and acceleration rates similar to newer Z06 corvettes and Porsche GT3s.

like everyone has said, its better to have the potential there than to max out your system early because your afraid of overpowering. with supercharger systems the psi is determined by the belt, so you can always turn down the boost. Having the headroom to turn up the boost is a different story and the HKS kit falls short here.


With all that being said I would get the KW kit, its been proven on dyno that they make a good 20tq more through the entire mid range than other superchargers which is key since your going to be spending most of your time around the mid range area.

i can assure you that a 400 ish whp supercharged s2000 is quite a bit slowing in a straight line than a zo6 and a porsche gt3. your typical 400whp pump gas super charged s2000 only traps 110-115mph in the 1/4 mile. The reason being is because a super charged s2000 uses a centrifugal blower so that 400whp is only for a split second during full boost which is only at redline. Its really a fake 400whp car.

but to answer the op question i would recommend the sos novi 1200 super charger for the track with an oil cooler simply because its a proven setup. If tracking is important to you stay away from turbos unless you are willing to go all out and relocate everything as well as run a vmount radiator/intercooler setup.

You are close enough to swing by LHT performance in Tampa. I'd give them a call and they can take you for a ride in a KW kit s2000. After that the decision should be easier :rolleyes:

SOS is the hometown here. Been tracking mine for YEARS.
oil cooler and a upgraded RAD for when you get fast and youll be good to go

Yeah, I would check out LHT Performance and talk to them before you make a decision. They have installed several KW kits and I've never heard one bad word about them. Everyone that goes there seems to leave happy.

That's kind of a dumb statement. Every car sees they're peak hp at redline lol. Those other cars mentioned just have better gearing, aero, and are built for the power they put down from factory which is why I think their trap speeds are higher.
