Default Krank Vent

Hey everyone-

I was wondering if I should go with the Large or Small Krank Vent for my upcoming FI project (~15psi). There was something I read that said w/ boost at idle, the small vent opens, as if not even there. Large still stays closed. Acceleration w/boost the small closes, and the large one "continues to build crank case vacuum."

I am thinking Large, but not sure...

Thanks

John

Anyone? I know a ton of people are running Krank Vents... I thought it was sort of a required mod for FI (similar to upgrading the cank case banjo bolts to the 4 jet type)... Just need a Large or Small answer...

Thanks

John

Not to long ago, it was shown that running both krank vents looses a good amount of HP.

They don't lose power. We did some experimenting and we found on the supercharged car we were using for test purposes, it made more power with the vent off.

I want to do this experiment again to verify that the vent in question that was removed was not installed backwards.

Anyone in SoCal with a high HP SCer interested? I suppose I could do it when I test the new dual exhaust system on Casterdog's whip

Search is your friend....

There was a pretty big thread with a couple people attesting to having BOTH krank vents on the engine "lost" horsepower (aka did not make as much power with the vents off OR only running one krank vent)

I would think one would be necessary, as the stock PCV valve is pretty much crap... and you do not want any boost entering the crank case I have also heard of people using a Supra PCV valve (saw one on HondaTech)... Can anyone confirm if it will fit?

I'm using the supra PCV valve however it is not plug in play, you need to get a size converter so the valve will fir (as its a good bit larger in diameter then stock).

Oh no, Deja Vu all over again. No, the KrankVent does not lose HP. I won't say you will gain any HP, but for sure you won't lose any. What you will gain for sure is safety against sending boost pressure into the crank case, and a lot less oil burn. If you have a choice, use the large one. I've used both and the large one is less prone to failure.
