Default Methanol installation

My build is going good.

I've got the car running well on a TTS full race kit. I've been told unrestricted it will make 22psi at 9.3krpm.

Im going to get it Mase tuned next week in London and I've got a 5 gallon AEM methanol system to instal first.

I've figured out the basic wiring and location positions etc. I've got a few questions that Id love it if you guys could help with-

-Ive got an AEM ems series one- what can be done to make the EMS interact with the Meth kit?

-Does methanol go bad? My friend has got a 100 gallons of methanol but he's had it for 2 years.

Don't know about the aem, but it's not difficult at all the engage spraying meth with a standalone the aem should handle it no problem, likely an aux output in wot.

As long as it hadn't been opened and still sealed it will be fine.

run two wires.
one so that when meth kit is armed, aem will switch to nitrous map with new fuel and timing maps. i had a switch that would ground and tell aem ems to use nitrous map when it was in the on position. if i didnt want that map, i just turned the switch off. basically two tunes in one tune.
one so that if meth kit errors it will ground to aem ems and pull timing.

your tuner will tell you which inputs to use on the d plug, not hard by any means.

How much power do you reckon Raz?

Surely at these boost levels your motor is built/altered?

Interested to see what your results are.

Are you going to be using direct port meth injection? Or single injector pre throttle body?

razzele:

Are you running the C38-91 or 92? At 22psi your numbers are going to be crazy bad oss!

Actually I miss quoted its 18psi at max

Looks like the Meth tune is probably off for this trip. I was mocking up a bracket for the tank instal and snapped the fluid drain fitting off. There is a local place that might stock a replacement, if not I probably wont have enough time to get it sorted

Camuman thats exactly the kind of advice Im looking for. Looking at the instructions for the methanol kit I have three outputs on the Meth kit to mess with.

Any suggestions as to exactly where I need to match them up to the corresponding positions on the ECUs "D block" would be great-

ok. arming switch goes chassis ground to switch. then switch to D11 which is switch 2. then in nitrous map i had nos switch in switch 2 ground = on. that way when you grounded that input, the aem new to use the nitrous fuel ignition map. which was tweaked for meth. i had instances where i wanted to drive around either on or off meth. i wasnt using meth for more boost, just more timing, so when i only had pump gas no meth, i turned switch off and drove on pump gas tune.

are you gonna run two boost setups? maybe a boost limiter when off meth?

the green wire from meth kit is the wire that grounds when there is a problem with meth spray, etc etc. wire this to the d12 which is switch 3. then in ignition-advancedignition-switch retard-options menu turn that on and switch rtd input set to switch 3 ground=on. now when that wire grounds it will pull timing from map at rate you set in those options. i had mine pull 8 degrees so i knew there was an issue lol. car would fall flat on its face and i knew, get off gas and trouble shoot.

hope this helps.
