more turbo install questions...
Alrighty, well i got that stinkin' air pump removed ( running AEM EMS ). I still have some questions however. Near the throttle body there are a TON of vacuum lines. A couple of them go to something that sits on the aluminum bar that used to be under the stock airbox. There is a check valve in one of the lines and it runs to this thing thats attached to the side of that bar. Also, there appears to be a solenoid of some sort that used to be connected to the air box, im not sure what this is either, but it has something to do with that other thing i was referring to because the vacuum lines from this solenoid also run to or from that thing. I dont have a picture, but im sure someone knows what im referring to. I want to know what these things are, and if i can remove them or not. Im gonna try to clean up the engine bay and make this look clean, i dont want vacuum lines all over the place. Let me know guys, i need help!! :hello:

-the selenoid thing youre talking about is an air control valve and can be removed. make a block-off plate to cover the hole.
-use the vacuum line port that you removed from the air control valve to intake manifold for your bov. -the thing under the air box is another valve and can also be removed. you can then remove the hard vacuum lines by the fuel rail. -when removing the hard lines substitute the coolant hose with a longer one to go directly from under the throttle body to the engine head. ....this will all make perfect sense when you are under the hood :D |
lol, thank you SO much. I have been into cars for years but this is my first turbo honda so im still learning a little bit. I appreciate you very much!

Andy, I shot you a PM regarding the pfab manifold. How do you like it? Is there good room between the turbine housing and firewall for a good sized downpipe, etc?
can you snap some pics for me? I'm deliberating between that and the spoolin performance bottom mount setup. |

can you snap some pics for me? I'm deliberating between that and the spoolin performance bottom mount setup. As for the manifold, there is plenty of room for a 3" downpipe ( thats what im using ). I think it goes without saying that you are gonna have a hard 90* bend right off the turbine, but its not really that bad of a bend, and its not gonna flow any worse I dont think either. I got his whole kit, and it all seems to be really nice stuff and its not as expensive as some of the other stuff out there. Once I get the manifold shipped back to him along with the downpipe i can take some pics for you but its gonna be about a week for me to ship it and him to make a new DP and send it back. |
just curious... why did you have to send the manifold back? I would think all the pipes would be built off jig's, beyond the initial run...

yea thats what i said to him, but he requested the manifold too. Trust me, I dont want to take it off but oh well.

post some pics when you're done and good luck with your build! |
Andy- thanks! Yeah, I look forward to the pics. I still have to sell my b-series stuff to fund the s2k manifold/dp. I've got a turbo, wastegate, intercooer with various bends, TN raptor bov, and AEM FIC on the way, so that's half the battle!
