I think with a large verticle drop from a supercharger or topmount, tapping high in the pan is fine. I just couldn't drill a hole in my girdle so I did the pan as high as possible above the drain plug. My drain has over 2 feet of verticle drop so its not an issue. On a bottom mount I'd say no question go to the girdle or timing cover. FWIW I work on all makes of cars and trucks and about 95% of all turbo vehicles return there oil above the level of the oil in the pan. I can say without a doubt that it should be this way. Here's a pic of mine.

OP - if you plan to keep the Greddy kit long term move your oil drain above the oil line, either very high in the pan, the girdle, or the timing cover. If not, rock with what you have until you replace the setup, then do it right the next go around.

Will it work in the drain bolt? Maybe. Is it worth risking? Not to me. Guess thats your own call.
I have my pan tapped higher up on the same side of the oil pan as the drain bolt (NOT in the top right as most people say is neccesary... it is probably better, but not neccesary) and have had no problems with it whatsoever.
If I had the means (and balls) to do the girdle, I probably would. The timing chain cover is probably the best bet if you can, but I think that might be too high up for a bottom mount setup. I could be wrong though?
Regardless though, as I said, no issues with mine tapped higher up on the pan... but I still wouldn't drain to the drain bolt, "just in case". There are no definitive answers though... you will have to draw your own conclusions and make your own decisions... asking your tuner is always a good idea too (assuming he is reputable).
Several people have had this problem. They often blame it on the oil drain being to low and say that fixing it corrected the issue. Was that really the cause of the issue? We will probably never know.
I was also having the same issue. However, I DID NOT change my drain or anything else on my turbo, other than adding an oil pressure restrictor to the FEED line and that solved my issue.
Unfortunately there is a LOT of unknowns here. People change things and the issue stops and they assumed thats what it was... but if the same issue is remedied by another (unrelated) fix can any strong conclusion really be drawn about what was causing the problem?
