ok im maybe thinking of putting turbo in my 07 s

now my question is that is it gonna be able to be my daily driver car?
or my motor wont last or what do you guys think??

or does anyone have a turbo s that actually drives everyday...???

First off, you're asking about boosting your car so why not post this in the FI section.

Is it possible to daily drive a turbo S2000 - yes, but I would personally pick a SC for daily duty over turbo. I had way less issues with my SC'd AP1 than I've had with my turbo AP2.

How much power do you want? Seriously, figure this out as it will determine what kit would fit your needs (more power = more parts and potentially more issues)

Do you have a second car? My car was down from April to October this year due to various issues, be prepared. Some of my issues could have been avoided, so do TONS of research and have everything ready.

What is your budget? My SC setup was less $$ than my turbo setup, and I bought my Full-Race turbo kit used. To date I've probably spent just shy of $10k to turbo my S2000 (and that does not include tuning)

With that said, my turbo S is way more fun than my SC'd ever was

Luckily, you have an 06+ so you can go with flashpro which cuts down on the costs and complications of things such as passing inspection.

Also, having driven a turbo MY07 with flashpro and my own car, I'd say the flashpro car runs much more smoothly and "OEM" feeling. (I was running Kpro, too).

Motor will last if you tune it right and keep detonation down. Don't be one of these idiots that disables the knock sensor, throws as much timing and boost as they can on a stock block and fill up with 87 octane.

Can it be reliable yes, Will it be reliable, most likely no. Reliability has much to do with your ability to spot and fix problems as they arise. I work on cars for a living, and I inspect my car every time I drive it. I still find various problems from time to time though. When you double the power of a vehicle the maintainence will increase at least threefold. If you wanna boost the car, save about 10k. First, use 2500 to buy you a new daily, and the rest should get you a decent turbo setup. I built 75% of my setup from scratch and I still spent north of 5k. It is an incredible feeling every time the car goes into boost, but the thought of this could be the last time is always there. Get yourself a new daily before taking the plunge and you'll enjoy the car lots more. I'm sure others will say go for it, but trust me you want a spare car before you go down this road. I have never used the car as a daily anyway, but now I wouldn't even consider it. Good luck and happy boosting.

Turbo'ing a non-turbo car is never going to be as simple as "bolt it on and forget about it" as much as the online shop seliing the kit wants you to believe. In addition to JUST having the turbo/motor set up and tuned correctly, you'll need to think about the extra stress the power will put on other components. Your brakes, clutch, tranny, diff, will all need to strengthened or at the very least calculated into your budget for future replacement.

If this is something you really want, put a pen to paper and figure out a rough estimate of cost, then double it and that will be closer to the real figure for the job. And that's assuming you're doing a lot of the work. Definitely buy a reliable beater. Good luck!

Checkout our customer build thread in the sig below, the AP2 is an 06 on Flashpro with our turbo kit. He daily's his car year round!

Are there better turbo kits out there than the Greddy? Yes. When purchasing new, is Greddy the best bang for your buck? No. But the Greddy kit isn't just overpriced junk either... that's a huge overstatement.

I agree with everyone who has stated that doing your homework before purchase is the first step. You have to expect some things to go wrong, and you have to identify all of the potential problems that your setup could have so that you know how to troubleshoot it. Every turbo kit has its weak points, and anytime you add that kind of power to an NA vehicle, you're inviting problems. There are several people that daily drive their turboed S2Ks, but I wouldn't have ever gone with boost if this were my daily driver. I want my daily to be dead-nuts reliable, and no matter what, adding a turbo definitely compromises reliability.

Just one note on the Greddy kit though... if you do your homework, find a lightly used kit and know what to upgrade ahead of time, and figure out your engine management (and find a good tuner for whatever you choose) you don't have to spend anywhere near new Greddy kit prices. I don't care what anyone says... adding close to 50% more HP and torque to a stock S2K is plenty of fun.
