Well and trully overkill.

The linear powerband of a supercharger is very tyre friendly unless it's soaking wet.

I run Yoko AD08R's on 255 wide, no issue at all in 1st gear! Circa 400whp ( 440hp at the flywheel )

Yes I had my front and rear RPF1 cut and widened. There has been a few others since me that have done it also.

18's would generally be the preferred when moving beyond a 255 width. But there are compromises with either wide 17's or 18's, as long as you know what they are and factor that in to your decision.
would you be so kind as to explain

400whp is more like 460 crank...15% average loss for RWD, manual equipped cars.

Well as I touched on with previous post. 18 package is typically heavier then a 17" and they are also more expensive to keep tires on by a significant amount ($100 more a tire ave) With the exception of 315's for the most part, 18" wheels come in more options for wider then 255 widths. If maintaining the factory gearing is important to you, the 285 -295 30/18's is a common up size option, where the next closest widths options in a 17 such as a 275/40 or 315/35 are taller with thicker sidewalls. Some don't like the way a thicker sidewall looks and depending on the tire brand/construction (not a problem with Nitto NT05) can be more sidewall flex, which is generally helpful for strait line but at the sacrifice of some handling precision. Generally the more power you make, the more gearing you want, so a taller tire isn't necessarily a bad thing here as it also helps lengthen the contact patch for more strait line traction. But its all about where you want the balance of performance to shift on this car. Tires are essentially a free experimentation because they are disposable items. However you still have to decide what rim size and widths to go with, which isn't as disposable. I was lucky in that my 11.5 width accommodated both a 295 and 315 well and I was able to work the fenders enough along with the wheel offset I chose/made to make fitment possible. That is an art and a science.

These are the things to consider between 17's -18's .

Not the typical results in my experience for this power level. Those are great tires for what they are, but you must have some nice blacktop roads in ideal warm conditions where you live, or your dyno number is just inflated from the dyno reading or lower trq output from an F20. For me, rolling on in first gear from a stop, as soon as the engine hits about 4500-5000rpm the tires break loose and then it just spools to bounce off limiter like nothing, the gear is virtually useless in trying to get a good drag time, too hard to modulate. Second gear can be modulated, but typically similar situation at a little higher rpm closer to where peak trq is made at 7k. This was with 295 kuhmo XS at a bit over 400whp as mentioned, which were old gen tires but still top of the line in dry conditions all the way to just a few years ago. Very grippy extreme summer compound.

Some say 17%, you are really just splitting hairs here.

SUPERCHARGED OWNER RESPONSES lol

Op, my honest suggest is get to the 400whp power level first, see how it is with what ya got then make a decision, because tryna guide you is like pleasing a stripper...
