Default Really loud NOVI 1000 blower

Hey guys,
Had my car dynoed over the weekend. The blower itself has a bad rattling sound coming from the housing.

Before the boost upgrade and the newly built motor, there was a little bit of a rattle present (gear lash?).

After the smaller pulley went on, the noise has gotten worse. It sounds like a spray paint can when you shake it up.

The blower still put out 13 psi, and the car put down 350rwhp/220tq... Which was limited we believe due to the Walbro not flowing enough fuel.

Anyways, back on topic.

I am considering ordering a rebuild kit from supercharger rebuilds dot com...

They have two to choose from:
Price: $250 (ABEC-5, thrust, 47K RPM), $400 (ABEC-7, thrust, 57K RPM)

Anyone know which I need?

Thanks a lot,
Matt

ABEC-7. I have a pair of the larger bearings (input shaft?) available if you need them. I bought the full rebuild kit and just replaced the seals and smaller bearings.

the rattling sound like shaking a can of spraypaint is normal...maybe you're not describing it accurately enough? you should get a local supercharger owner to come out and listen and see what they think before you put out the money for a rebuild.

I experienced the same sound. I loosened the belt just a LITTLE, and the noise went away.

By the way, there was a post on here this past winter about a guy who rebuilt his blower CHEAP. He claimed all the bearings and seals are common, could be bought at your local hardware store.

I think he also stated that PAXTON will rebuild the blower for you for like $300.00. If I were shelling out that much for a kit, why not just let them do it, LOL.

Good luck!

what are the major differences with ABEC-7 and ABEC-9??

SuperchargerRebuilds doesnt give any info. If im not mistaking, the ABEC-9 can run higher boost thus creating more power or is the power output the same just able to better hold a smaller pulley?

sorry, dont mean to jack the thread

I wonder if it's higher boost or more efficiency.

Higher # is for higher spinning RPM's. Higher RPM = more heat... Higher grade materials? Different clearances?
