Default Replacing clutch with S/C installed?

Anyone know of a DIY write up for replacing the clutch with a S/C installed?

If I can save myself an hour or two by not completely removing the blower that would be fantastic.

I tried to search but just about every post returned was on a choosing a clutch for supercharger application, although some were good reads just not what I was looking for.

Thanks,
Ryan

edit: I have a Vortech kit

I had to drop the transmission on my car twice, and both times the blower had to some off (Comptech kit).

Reason being, you must lower the sub-frame in order to remove the transmission. If you don't remove the blower, it will hit the front cross brace when lowering subframe.

Good luck!

I was thinking that there might be a way to lower only the rear portion of the subframe. I could be way off but it seems feasible, no?

I did mine recently. I dont have an aftercooler and just took the air intake pipe (rubber half circle) off. Then dropped the subframe where the back of the engine was just about touching the firewall. I then could get to the infamous top bolts with like a 5 foot extension, airgun.

Be sure to get the starter bolt off first before you begin. You can reach it through the engine bay with a 4 foot extension.

I purchased a Science of Speed clutch. (badass!)

Its really not that hard to take the blower off considering all you are doing when replacing the clutch. I would just take it off to be on the safe side, you don't want the whole engine and trans assembly to be hanging on the supercharger that is sitting on the cross bar.

Agreed, but why do extra work if not absolutely needed?

Why Remove the blower and lower the sub frame, when you can lift the motor off the mounts and then tilt it back with the trans and everything intact to gain access?

That's my method also, but it requires an engine hoist to lift it off the mounts.

unbolt the sc drop the subframe...don't give yourself anymore headaches then your already going to have...o and heres another tip...have a 3ft or more extension to get to the upper transmission bolt...and the correct allen wrench to disconnect the driveshaft...don't remove the driveshaft just let it rest on the exhaust with a bungee cord to hold it there while you drop the trans no need to disconnect it from the rear diff...dropped the trans twice already once for the clutch another 2 weeks ago for the 2.4 stroker motor
