Default S/C Heat Exchanger Fans

Howdy,
I've read a thread on here before about someone mounting a fan/fans on their heat exchanger set up. Anyway, the thread was pretty short lived and pretty much inconclusive.

So, having said that; Is this a good idea? Is it worth the trouble?

I'm assuming you'll need to make some nice brackets to mount these suckers and potentially run them off a relay.

Cheers

I'm not sure that it is worth it. Unlike a radiator, you don't really care about the cooling performance of your aftercooler when sitting in stop-and-go traffic. Since the HX sits in front of both the AC condenser and radiator, it gets direct air flow when at speed which is when you really care about the aftercooler performance. You'd have to use pusher fans mounted on the front of the HX, so those would likely restrict airflow when at speed which will affect not only your aftercooler efficiency but also your radiator too.

I think its a bad idea.

Ive tried it and it made zero difference. If you want to get the most from the S/C aftercooler then get a SoS upgraded heat exchanger and a Bosch Cobra pump for the water. Those Johnson pumps are garbage IMO if you are boosting over the factory pulley.

Damn that's thick. I've got the upgraded HX & Bosch pump so that's all good.

Would there be any benefit of having an oil cooler between the supercharger & supercharger oil feed? The Kraftwerks runs a similar set up I believe but I don't know the specifics.

I'm just curious, I'd probably never run an oil cooler in that configuration.

Kw has an oil cooler because it's a stand alone oil system.

But I'd tend to want to run an engine oil cooler if that oil is being used for an extra component like a supercharger, especially with the added heat the engine is generating from the extra power.

Ah, of course it is

I splashed out on Vibratechnics mounts recently so I'm going to have to give the oil cooler a miss for now. It's always been on the to-do list.

I'm a little apprehensive though, I'm not sure where I will mount it. I guess my only option is to mount a smaller oil cooler on the front right behind the bumper, but is there enough air flow over the radiator in this location?

If anyone could chime in that would be great... sorry to shift the topic

Braeden- what are your thoughts on the vibratechnics motor mounts?

Hey mate, I haven't got them in yet. There's a thread on here somewhere with people's first impressions of them. They're slightly stiffer than stock apparently, without the insane vibration of polyurethane mounts.
