Do you have to cut the fan shrowd? My cut does not look very good. Also the sc whines/whisles loudly at 3k but goes away at high rpms. Is this normal? The superchager is a used Comptech with 6k miles on it. Thanks for all the help.

Noone I know has had to cut the fan shroud. If you do, something is not quite right. All superchargers have a distinctive "whine". The only reason it "goes away" at higher rpm is that other engine and exhaust noise drowns it out. They also have a bit of "gravelly" sound coming from the bearing. The Comptech has this more so than a Vortech.

Some of the Comptech's I've seen have to have the edge of the shroud cut to clear the intake hose. It's either that or a cut hose, that lets in unfiltered air.

I needed to cut mine in a couple of places . A bit of 100 grit sandpaper was used to smooth it out.

I also sliced up a hose and stuck

I had to cut my shroud pretty bad. I lost two of the vertical supports.

I had to cut one of the fan shroud supports them dremeled with a barrel sander to smooth it out so it wouldn't hit the intake elbow!

I apologize for this misleading statement. I'm a bit astonished at the inconsistency of this product where many have no clearance problems and many do.
For a kit that costs as much as this, it's a shame that such an alteration must be made.

I think it might be the installer because some people also have problems with the aftercooler hitting the hood and some don't. I'm sure that you can tighten things a certain way so that it will not touch.
