shrouded (Anti-surge) housing VS Nonshrouded SOUND
Just for curiosity sake, I have heard that the shrouded compressor housings give the turbo more of a whistle than non-shrouded housings. By whistle I mean that high pitched spooling sound that makes it sound like a jet turbine spinning up.
SO THE QUESTION:
Who in here has gone from a non-shrouded housing to a shrouded one and can comment on if the turbo made a different sound, and if it did what was the difference?
I know that as you go larger on the compressor wheel this sound gets more prominent. IE, the GT35R starts to make the sound. The two GT40/88R's I have heard in town make it also only EVEN LOUDER. And there is one GT45R and it is so loud its all you hear, can barely hear any engine noise........it sounds like a jet taking off everytime. I used to think it was boost level, but not true. Both the GT40R's do it even if they are running 10 psi, and the GT45R is only running 8 psi.
BUT I want to know if the shrouded housing plays a part in this. I have heard it does but want some people to chime in that have had both housings on the same turbo and can comment.

the reason for the louder spool is because on a ported compressor housing the slits from the ports hits the exducer of the compressor wheel where its chopping up a lot of air plus its larger down there. The whistle is amazing in my opinion, one reason why I always loved the 30R...good for power and amazing sound.

There is an option for the Ported Shroud.
Edit:
There is also one from Pang's website.
