SOS Supercharger Kit FAQ Sticky
#22
You stated that the 1200 is far superior to the 1220 because the 1200 is capable of higher peak HP. But at, say, 375 whp, does the 1220 have better lower/mid range than the 1200? Is the 1200 more efficient at all rpm's when compared to the 1220?

actualy, i saw a cool idea elsewhere... on 928 Motorsports you can get a boost limiter valve and use it on a SOS kit, you could get a 10psi belt, and set the blv to say.... 7psi? and it would give you your desired boost setting much lower in the rpm band... i am very heavily debating this...

or even more extreme if you'd like.... IE: 15psi and only use like 9 of it, full boost around 3800rpms? dunno, would be an interesting point.

I made 5whp more on 2-3psi less boost than my friend with the 1220 kit... same dyno, same tuner, near identical setup (im on stock exhaust too)
its not like we are comparing the Novi1220 to the 1500 or 2000 at lower boost

yeah sure just let me correct it first though... i meant to say 5whp more at 2-3 less psi of boost, still impressive.. figure at same boost level it would be 25-30whp more.

Would be nice to get more data on the NV1500. I'm starting to question if it might be a better option over the 1200 for more output capability, wile determining/weighing out any possible negatives such as added parasitic losses/efficiency range, any custom machining/parts to make fit/work etc.

Honestly, this could just turn into a Novi thread. Or we could make another thread on whats needed for a N1500 conversion. But the few that have done it would need to spill the beans. If we stray away from the N1220/N1200, this thread will be HUGE. Im just not that experienced with the N1500 stuff.
