Default SOS supercharger stage 1 or stage 2

Hi, i have a 2003 ap1 currently all stock with an afe intake and catback invidia q300 exhaust. im in the market for a supercharger and have done some research on supercharger and am looking at the science of speed(SOS) supercharger. i dont race or track my s2k or daily it. i want some extra hp just for some highway pulls nothing serious. i also dont launch my car either. i was wondering which stage supercharger i should go with either stage 1 or stage 2. which one is worth the money going with i only want to spend the money once and do it the right way the first time. anyone supercharged with any advice please help lol. im also worried about the differential ap1s i heard are fragile if you could give any info on that would be awesome. any info in general would be great on this! thank you in advance!

Both options are valid, it just depends on what kind of impact you want to have doing your freeway pulls. The stage 1 option is a complete kit designed around a competent DYI guy, to install over the weekend and street tune for a reliable 280-300whp without the need for upgraded injectors or dyno tuning. The kit utilizes the OEM ecu along with an adjustable SOS rising rate fuel pressure regulator to deliver the added fuel needed for the minimal boost, along with a non programmable pnp piggyback. Stage 2 is a higher boost kit that leaves out the RRFPR and piggy back, for larger injectors and full EMS, also requiring a tuner. At the stage 2 point, you might as well run the blower full tilt and get the most out of it, since your investing in a kit and tuner that can now get you the full beans. If you choose any option above the stage 1, make sure you get the optional novi 1200 blower upgrade, its only like $60 and people will spend $400+ to have their stage 1 1220 blower sent in to Paxton to have converted to a 1200. Just get it the first time.

If you want to do it right the first time then this shouldn't even be a topic in question... stage 2 all day with the upgraded novi1200 blower, racing heat exchanger, id1000's, walbro 255, ems and any pully size you want for the power you want. As for the differential look into the different puddymod stages... but if you don't launch the car then that could be money better spent elsewhere. But if you want piece of mind I actually have a stage 2 puddymod diff for sale with 4.57r gears which imo is the best gearset for the ap1... but mine is an ap2 diff so you would have to swap over your input flange... goodluck with everything

Go with stage 2. You'll get bored with 280-300whp, especially when you know you can get more power @stage 2. I thought that was all the power i needed, but I got bored quick and ended up upgrading my pulley for more power, if i could go back i would have just gone with a smaller pulley from the start and saved $$$$. I also wish i could have gone with the 1200 and not the 1220 blower

Stage 2.

The stage 1 gives you an idea of what you can do but it seriously lack mid range power and it sometimes feels like you don't have a supercharger

Yeah in my experience the stage 1 just wet my palate for more. Within a few weeks I was looking for more boost. But that's not to say someone couldn't be content long term with a stage 1, plus there is something to be said for incremental power upgrades giving one a chance to get a feel for the car in stages, earning its trust. Not everyone can safely handle a 400-450whp S2k when they are used to 200whp. Especially if its their first rwd car.

I just got the stage 1 back in November. Trying to iron out issues with fueling still but if i started over again i'd probably spend the extra and get stage 2.

If you are worried about emissions i think you can put back your stock ecu and injectors with stage 2. I did not know this when i bought the stage 1.

I say stage 2, and if you want less power the stage two is capable, if you want more power the stage two kit is also capable
