Does anyone think this will make the SC kit obsolete? Seems like a better option and only $1500 more.

it’s seems to not mention clutch and I know ours can’t handle +150hp
ACT HD with OEM disk should be sufficient.

Really, interesting. I'd think something like a G30-770 would flow well but maybe it's a little too big? Definitely nice to simplify things with an IWG and less exh plumbing but they probably did it for good reason. Been following your Porsche build, good stuff, you miss your Honda?

This winter I'm coming back to the Honda and giving it some TLC. Fixing the downpipe clearance and making a nice quiet 3" to dual 2.5" exhaust. Got myself a TIG welder to play with. Probably finally install the AEM Infinity as well, unless the new SOS Link ECU setup looks that compelling to switch.

I miss the responsiveness of my old s2k turbo setup. Haha. I hope to get the Porsche there; it's a matter of time, money, and if I want to use something bolt-on or something custom like I did with the s2k. The hard part with custom, aside from costs, is the Porsche is my daily driver, so no downtime. Raggdoll will have a bolt-on solution that would meet my performance goals, but some compromises on track robustness potentially. Streetcar, their solution is a no-brainer.

I think SOS tested a regular rotation IWG G-series. The tight manifold bends to make that fit will kill the top end power and they had very specific power targets they wanted to hit. Maybe they used reverse rotation. Either way, when I looked at it, I couldn't figure out a good way to make that internal wastegate fit without compromising the manifold design and flow. I think SOS ran into the same issue trying to make the IWG work with the G-series. That all said, this new setup from SOS uses an external wastegate mounted to the turbine housing.

They chose different compromises than I did. I think they designed to work with the factory engine mount and their oil filter relocation thing, and I think a custom heat shield. I made mine work with the factory heat shield, hasport engine mount, and a total oil filter and cooler relocation.

This new SOS setup does look to me the best made yet for the S2k that's pretty much a bolt-on solution.

Responsiveness in terms of throttle response or turbo..? One thing I'm sure you don't miss is the rougher street nature of the s2k. Being a convertible it's definitely loud and much less "refined" than a porsche but I guess that's part of the fun too. Newer porsches are just so darn comfy imo.

Very cool you had some input on the design and they clearly put thought into their products. Always a tradeoff. It's definitely a very nice bolt-on solution. With my "top mount" manifold it pretty much requires relocating the battery which is a big tradeoff.

.
The spool up and transient response of my S2k setup with the G25-660 was much better. With the turbo that I have on the Porsche right now, i don't get full torque until about 4k rpms and it's journal bearing. The Porsche 'dynamic boost' anti-lag system does help offset the transient response issue, but it takes a bit of time to get the turbo going from low rpms.

One thing that caught me off guard, but makes total sense, is that the Cayman with strut suspension rides much rougher with full spherical bearing suspension. With the strut, the loads are transmitted straight into the chassis. Plus, I'm running around 9.5 deg of caster, so the angle of impact really sends the jolt straight into the chassis. My S2k with the full spherical Blacktrax setup was much smoother over the same roads owing to the S2k having the control arm setup.

I looked up the turbine housing from Forced Performance used on this new SOS setup. It's not twin-scroll which was slightly surprising. But it would have been a much more expensive turbine housing casting if it were twin-scroll.

I was in the market for an SC, after more research, wanted to go with their TS-MAX set-up, until I realized it was discontinued. I currently am planning to pre-order the RR-MAX. I was able to locate the listing through google which provides some more details; but still don't see the v-mount option as mentioned in IG post and look forward to dyno test results being shared friday.
