Default Stripped oil return line fitting on Comptech SC!?

After draining the pan during an oil change last night , I went to re-tighten the oil return line fitting onto the flange in the oil pan (the one that replaces the drain plug during the comptech supercharger install). I felt it start to thread a little, although it didnt seem like it was fitting quite right. I took it off and tried a few more times, each with the same result. It felt like it was just slightly off, but I figured it might have just been me, so i threaded it on about one rotation with my fingers, and tightened with the wrench, which seemed very hard to do. I refilled the oil, and noticed that about every 7 seconds, a drop of oil is coming out of that fitting. I tried tightening more, to no avail. I actually took the "drain plug" fitting off again (yes this got messy) and tried rethreading several times. Same result. Threaded a little bit, then was very hard to tighten, but i tightened anyway. Am I just not lining it up right, or did I strip it last night by tightening when it didn't want to? I'm hoping it's just "not lined up", or something. Please help; I can't drive my S!

You probably stripped out the blue Alum drain plug fitting (I think its a 8AN to 14MM fitting). I just changed my oil yesterday and the fitting threads on very easily.

I replaced that with a steel one I found from these folks.

Pegasus racing

In The worst case you also stripped out the 8AN fitting on the oil hose, Most any decent speed shop should be able to sell you a new fitting and help you install it to the existing hose. Just take the hose off first.

Good luck.

I ordered it right after we got back from Philly HIN. Has 3100 miles on it right now, and it's for sale (I don't drive it that much anymore). Selling the whole car to get a house. I just looked at the stupid oil pan fitting and half the thing is cross threaded. If the oilpan fitting is cross threaded, what are the chances the "female" (oil return line) fitting is cross threaded as well?

Update: Ordering a new -8AN to 14mm oil drain fitting and a new oil return line assembly from Comptech, total $80 after shipping!!!

Is there any way to get the oil return line off the blower without removing the blower from the car? That's what I'm really mad about right now

Dude, order the steel one from Pegasus, I think it was $ 15.00 part # 3265-33

They are hosing you.

I dunno about the line its kind of buried under the SC unit.

I appreciate it, but the Comptech oil pan fitting was $22, compared to the $15 from Pegasus. I'm not that worried about the 7 bucks since Comptech is shipping me everything 2-day air anyway. The major charge was the stupid oil line, which needs to be made in house after they get the parts machined from Goodridge and whatnot. They quoted me WAY off on the line though. It was supposed to be $35, and it turned out to be over $130!!! So now, my total charge after shipping is $180! Stupid, stupid, stupid cars... the worst part is that the buyer was supposed to come look at the car today, but now that's going to have to wait. It does appear that through some contorting of my arms, I will be able to get this line off without removing the blower (hopefully). Oh well; parts should be here tomorrow... we'll see how it goes

Thanks for everyones input, but thankfully, the oil return hose wasn't stripped! I was elated. I'm sending it back to Comptech and getting my $135 back, so all I'm out is $22 for the oil pan fitting plus shipping. I'll keep the advice in mind in case anything like this ever happens again; thanks again!

Well Earl's is the maker of the original. I think some good tightened mine to much as when I put it back in after draining my oil the fitting broke in the oil pan. Came out easy as it was a clean break. Summit sells the fitting for 10.43. Had to drive 2.5 hours to get the part so I could drive the next day. Anyhow the replacement fitting looks nicer despite it being from the same manufacturer.

I prefer to remove the fitting to make sure all the oil drains out as the fitting adds 1/8 or more to oil level.
