Default Supercharger worth it?

Just wondering, would a supercharger be worth its money? A friend will be letting go of his SC soon to go TC and would be selling it to me from 1800-2500 still debating on a price. I think an SC would be a great power addition, looking for a reliable setup which I think an SC would do good. Looking for that extra boost in power but not crazy. I might have the engine rebuilt stronger to be safe.

From what I understand these are pretty tuff motors. And an extra increase in torque would be welcomed lol. But honestly, what are your goals? Before making the purchase I would consider that first.

^ This. Worth is always highly subjective. Ready up any in the FI subforum?

as stated what are your goals? also what kit?

to give you an idea of reliability, I bought my CT kit used in 2006 without aftercooler for $2,800, not sure how many miles where on it, but I alone have put over 60k miles on CTSC'er, I have had no problems that weren't my fault, still the original belt. I have been at 7lbs 300rwhp and 200tq and will soon max out the blower to see what it can do. If done right, I truly believe this kit will last just as long as the car.

If the kit is complete and in good condition, $2,500 is a very fair price, $1,800 would be a steal

If you use stock boost levels, it pretty mush slap on, tune and go, no need for any major add ons. If you want more power, you will have to consider, Engine management, bigger injectors, map sensor, clutch, and so on.

Supercharing was the best mod I did for my car, have loved it and never looked back, except when i'm racing someone lol

If you have the means, do it, both you and the car will love it. It's a great start for FI, if you ever get hungrier for power you can upgrade your pulley, or if its a CT kit, you can upgrade your blower. Good luck
