Supercharging in 2018-19; best option?

Any idea why that is? Is 450 an unreasonable aspiration on just pump 93 with a 1200? I'd rather not toss in water/meth to something I'm trying to keep simple and reliable. I'll just lower my power expectations I suppose. I just figured a 3.2-3.4" pulley would yield me the results I was looking for over the standard 4" pulley supplied as their "Stage 2" option. The 3.2-3.4" pulleys are advertised to produce 15.5-16 psi on an ap1 respectively.

In the LHT SoS video the black AP2 was (supposedly) using the 3.4" pulley and made 13.7 lbs which yielded 402/256 on a skunk2 header/tp/stock exhaust w/ UK mod. I'm sure belt tension accounts for some power/psi variations but is it not possible to get a consistent 450 whp out of pump gas on this setup? I figured I'm gonna be maxing this kit/headunit out right off the cuff. Is there a particular reason why it's not recommended by SoS to exceed 9-10 psi on 91-93 pump? I read about the heat inefficiencies of the blower you mentioned, would the higher IATs/boost levels lead me to be more prone to detonation? Not trying to sound naïve here, it just seems like the KW kit can make a pretty decent range of power very easily where it seems the top comfortable output for the SoS operating threshold is around 400whp. Also it's not advisable to go smaller than a 3.2" pulley on an AP1, so I'd imagine to produce any more boost I'd need a larger diameter crank pulley? Problem is it seems that in order to spin the blower enough to make 16+ psi I'd be crossing into a danger threshold, no? I've just seen users here get higher numbers/boost than advertised by SoS for pulley combinations etc.

I appreciate your input!
I guess in a nutshell, the KW wont make 450 on pump either if that's your goal, not without E85/race fuel or water/meth. If you noticed both blowers on the vid made the exact same peak power at the same boost, just the rotrex made a little more under the curve. The Novi with a 3.2" can on pump with a great tuner that understands how to tune timing for 93 without risk of detonation. I made 17psi with a 3.2 at 8350rpm with the 1200, which was the max blower speed. Running it up to 9k with that pulley will be over spinning it. Many have done it. I didn't feel I needed to do that. Unfortunately I never got that particular set up on the dyno to see exactly what it yielded, but have on others at all pressure across the board and would say it was right in the 425-440whp range. You very well could make 450whp+ running a 3.2 at your rev limit. They make a 3" pulley but some find it difficult to keep the belt from slipping and get consistent pressure. I never did with the 3.2, but yes you can run a 6 or 6.5" crank pulley to eliminate that. The highest yield ive seen on a 1200 blower was with it being over spun producing 24psi or so at 585whp on e85. Rotrex wont touch this. It simply cant spin fast enough to produce the pressure needed without blowing up.

Its not in SOS best interest as a liable business to recommend running boost pressures on their kits that fall outside of their comfort zone. That doesn't mean it isn't done regularly with success.

Look into the TTS C3892 if you want a rotrex. I would do the TTS bracket system but fabricate your own charge piping and intercooler system. The kit is far more reliable than the KW kit.

next in line is the SOS n1200, then the IMT. I'd like to see a TVS 1900 option personally.

I'm a KW owner, and unless you live right next to LHT, it is dumb to go with KW. Get SOS and get a more reliable kit with better support hands down.

Are there any kits these days that can pass California smog? Comptech went out of business, and to my knowledge they had the only CARB supercharger for the S2000.

I like the OP's mindset. Don't be cheap. Treat your S2K right and it will reward you tenfold! That's my aproach aswell and i'm loving the s2k life.

You can attenuate the noise of the Paxton blower. I've had the SOS kit for a number of years running 14psi with Hondata KPro set to limit at 8,500 rpm. Using a Comptech Air Box and some custom asymmetric foam baffling the sound is reduced, the pitch is reduced and the "bucket of bolts" image is nearly eliminated. Folks know that there is something different about your car but it's not nearly as pronounced.

PS - I think that decorative carbon fiber is childish. So, I painted all of the CF stuff in NFR.

Rotrex wont touch SOS...Hmmm...Junky...did you forget about mine? I'm not quite at 585whp but pretty close at 551whp on E85 (measured at E65 at the time of this dyno) and only at 17-18psi and not overspun.

I stand corrected? That's the highest yield and boost amount ive seen posted for a Rotrex charger. Kudos there. Stock engine? What dyno? TTS kits do manage to produce significantly higher yields then the KW. Why is not clear to me.

Still didn't touch the Novi, with over 600whp on the Novi 1500
