Trade Garret Turbo setup for SC setup

I'm looking at buying a 2000 s2k with a Garret turbo setup with t30/t04 turbo, aem ems v1 and all the gauges and intercooler etc.. would I be okay running without the turbo? I must mention the engine was rebuilt for lower compression to accomodate the turbo.

Yeah sure... but why?!

Like anything else money. This is my first S2k and if the setup gets too expensive I want the option to go to something more reliable.

I don't know why everyone always brings up the reliability thing. If you have a reliable super charged car you will have a reliable turbo car.

Mainly just what the majority have said about the supercharger being a simpler setup so less things to break. I don't have any real experience with either.

So does that mean I can run the car without the turbo and it would be just as enjoyable as a regular 11:1 compression engine? The current sleeved engine is 9.1:1 for boost. I will only be doing this if there is a major problem with the turbo and I can't afford to get it going right away.

"enjoyable" will be an understatement taking it off any kind of FI at this point if it is built. If it was built even "good" in the first place, meaning it will continue to be abused NA it's good for FI. It will be a dawgg without.

Now steering away from turbo, BC SC is simpler (only at Installing) I would advise against as well. If ur not educated enough the SC "gremlins" come veering just as quick.
it really is just a matter of getting a REAL kit and someone knowing what they r doing at the least installing a TC. If it's u and your not comfortable and don't have a budget for any of the above, go SC. You'll make OK gains but with that low of cr. Your gonna want some response. There's a reason the Mfgers of the world SC V8's and TC 4cyls.

It might SEEM that supercharged cars are less of a headache vs turbocharged cars but it really comes down to the build and if things were half ass'ed etc.

Any forced induction setup or modified car is only as good as the person building it. while a supercharged system CAN be less complex to install and maintain (not hating) but a simple google search of kraftwerks rotrex setups are not as care free as they seem.

I agree with Devon that a turbo car can be made to be factory reliable, it boils down to how much do you want to spend to get it to that state?

With any forced induction setup regardless of the car that it is in, as you increase the power output beyond what the car was designed for from the factory you are going to have things come up.

Cheap, fast, reliable (you can only pick two)...
