Thumbs up Tubular vs. log-style turbo manifold

On the same engine, at the same boost level, on the same dyno, etc. etc. etc., how much more power should a tubular-style turbo manifold make over a log-style turbo manifold?

Also dont forget what spool faster is it the turbo or manifold design. It is as important as power for those track their car.

Ok....so include in my first post the same turbo.

and don't forget the style point for a gorgeous tubular manifold, nobody ever said "wow thats a nice log you have in there"

but seriously, equal length tubular manifold alone can gain up to 20hp on some other setups (i'm thinking evo), am i right?

we have done back to back testing on the b series engine 2 years ago. There was minimal differences. Of course there are many variables, weather etc...

We made 802whp CORRECTED on a dynojet with a B series OFF THE SHELF T4 manifold, with a GT42R. K series with tubular manifolds with the same setup have made similar power to this as well.

This car is also the SFWD record setter/holder as of right now.

also a recent local member with a s2000 at 9.5psi made 374 with the clutch slipping. Alot has to do with the TURBO SIZE DIFFERENCES.

Lets say a log manifold puts out 15 whp per psi of boost, a good designed tubular manifold would be around 20-25 whp per psi. Mine is around 22 and that's why I can't imagine how that Inline manifold is getting even close to what mine is.

it depends on the size of the turbo you are running.

if you use'd your #'s...

22whp per psi....

22whp x 37psi = 814WHP which is pretty much what Mat made on that Bseries setup i put above.

I dont know what else has to be proven. There are BARELY any K series making that power, and they ALL have to run a tubular manifold. The head has a lot to do with the power of the engines, and we all know the K series is better than the B series.

hey, thats my dyno plot...haha, i am the local member if anyone missed my post. The dyno is right there...375whp at 9lbs. Trust me I was suprised too ive always thought too that tubular made much more than a log type but my setup proved me wrong.

I thought that a log style spools up quicker, but you get more top end power from the tubular style.
