Default Upgrades done and dynod

Went from 6lbs to 12lbs, new clutch, injectors, ecu.
Waaaaay more fun now. I can hear the BOV hissing and it is a lot faster. It needs another 100 hp now, I think, lol. Maybe a Novi 8000? Do they make those?

Nice. Not sure what engine management you have. It looks like you could drop your VTEC crossover and pick up a pretty fair amount of midrange power.

Hi Tim, I had him set it at 5000 RPM. It seem like that was where it made the most sense? I never cruise around above that. I’m using an Aem version two for the ECU. I haven’t tried tuning it myself yet but I’m guessing I could drop that on my own and see how it felt? I sure like the car better when Vtech is engaged, LOL.

Not understanding the thought process here. What does typical cruising rpm have to do with vtec engagement rpm?

At wot you want vtec to engage as low as possible that doesn't lose power.

Cruising above or below wot vtec rpm threshold has no affect on vtec engaging or not.

Does vetch only engage at WOT? If so, I’ll lower it for sure.

It is load and RPM based. It has to meet both criteria.

Looks like vtec engages at 5600rpm (unless the graph is off) just a few hundred shy of stock, not 5000

Regardless, If you want to get the most out of the engine, set it down somewhere between 3500-4000rpm. Your giving up a lot of mid rang power, which not like this motor has an exuberant amount of regardless so might as well get the most you can. If you want to maximize your midrange/lower vtec, you will need to increase your fuel and timing. Its worth another visit to the tuner. But before you do that, I'd probably go ahead and drop down another pully size or two to max out the blower and get your full beans. 12psi is a bit shy of that yet. Shoot for 15-16psi. 3" pully.

Thanks all for the replies. I’m embarrassed that I’ve had the car for years and never figured out that Vtec is load based. I didn’t want to have the car sucking fuel on Vtec when just cruising on the highway, which apparently it won’t do unless it’s under load.

The shop that tuned it is busy to the point that they can’t keep up, and so much went wrong I’m reluctant to go back.

The SOS pulley chart listed the 3” pulley as the smallest a Novi 1000 could run on an AP1. Can I run a smaller pully? I want to keep it on pump gas.
I should probably get a data logger so I can tune it myself. I’m pretty sure I’ll be messing with the hp over and over. I “may” have a hp problem, but I think everyone here understands the addiction.

No one makes a smaller then 3" pulley unless you go custom, and then your going to be over spinning the blower anyway. What size pulley are you running now? You are running the NV1000?

Vtec has 3 systems in play that control it. RPM, Throttle position/% and load to some degree. I've always been able to make good tunes just basing around the two, with RPM and throttle % for NA and supercharged.

Thanks again for the replies. It’s a 1000 with a 3” pulley. It’s maxed out.
