Use current turbo or go bigger?
 

Hey guys,
I have a GT3076 .63 turbine A/R and a rather small .50 compressor A/R. I will be running it with a full-race ramhorn manifold. The previous owner claimed 503whp at 13.5psi. That sounds about 100whp higher than normal. I am wanting to get to 500whp with no more than 15psi.

I am struggling to get any worth while info as its such a small compressor size. Any information or educated guess work will be extremely appreciated.

My other option will be to build this turbo out to support what i would like. Thanks guys.

Really don't know how to guide you with this one. But I made 454 whp and 327wtq on 14.5psi with a small restrictive filter and with a larger more flowing filter I made 472whp all on a mustang DYNO. I have a Borg Warner s366 with a .91 A/R and a divided housing THE TURBO IS HUGE!!!! similar in size to a GT40. The car is all top end.

Sounds like you have a nice set up! However, your set up is too fair different to even begin to compare the two.

Sorry man that's just not realistic enough to believe. Even at max efficiency say 18-19psi you'd be hard pressed to squeeze 500 out of that turbo. On the other hand if you pickup a gtx30r you could hit 500 + but once again it's not gunna happen at 13psi. You want 500 whp what type of gas will you be running pump or e85? Stock or built block? You won't hit 500 on pump without a thicker hg, built block with lower comp pistons or water/meth injection. Please give us more info

Ive seen this turbo hit over 500 on a few setups they were on 100 octane or e85. One friend I had hit 568 on a dynapack with 100 octane at 19psi on a k20 on a full race kit. A couple other friends hit close to 500 with that turbo on stock engines.

Stock block and 93 pump. I want to run water but not as a means to gain power. Only as a means for a safety blanket. That way if there is ever an issue with injection or I am out there is no issue! Also i believe you to be one of the last people other than inline pro themselves to recommend a thicker head gasket. There has been countless failures. Surely you have seen all of them?!

I think that's all the stuff that matters for power!

I wasn't recommending it just throwing it out there as an option I have a built block because I wanted 500 whp on pump without wmi. On stock compression you'll have detonation issues before you reach 500whp without water meth so you are gunna rely on it somewhat to make the power you want. And 3en I should have clarified on pump alone that turbo will be hard pressed to hit 500whp

I can maybe agree with this point. Not as a cover all that at 500whp there will be detonation but maybe that is true with this turbo. I bet it can get close though. I made 400whp on a log(tubular log) with a t3/to4e 60trim. I should make 450-460whp if i changed nothing but the exhaust manifold. With that being said the gt3076 is a bigger turbo and should make more horse power.

I was agreeing with you vduber. It took more then pump to hit that goal on that turbo. :thumbup:

Goon anything over 14ish psi with 11:1 compression your goin to cut it close with detonation(that's why most tuners stop around 13-14 on stock block, I would be happy with mid 400 numbers and call it a day. Anywho hopefully some people with that turbo can chime in
