Vortech freshen up

So after 13 years and 70k trouble free miles my old S trim Vortech is starting to show some age . It is starting to leak oil out of the seals to the point of covering the back of the blower and mounting brackets with oil . I am sending it back to Vortech for a freshen up or as they call it a minor rebuild . I am however thinking that perhaps i should upgrade it to the Si trim . I am wondering if anyone has done this and if it is actually worth it . I do realize that it will make more boost for a given pulley size but that isn't really my desire . My thinking is the Si trim is more efficient thus a cooler air charge . I would keep the boost at 13-14 psi revving it out to 9k as i have always done . Supercharger gurus please comment . Thanks !

Si is much more efficient and worth the money. I went with the V7-YSi and it rocks.

Are Vortech units better than Paxton? I think they're similar brand but I keep hearing about new trims from Vortech yet with Paxton it seems like they've stuck with Novi1220, 1200, 1500, 2000 units for some time now.

No , Paxton is to my knowledge the parent company of Vortech . They are all very similar . Paxton uses numbers instead of letters for there various trim levels .

Hey Phil do you have any pics of the V7? I have no idea how you fit that huge thing on the bracket!

The Si is very capable. I got it and upgraded to higher speed bearings. At about 22psi and 10:1 compression on 93 pump and meth I made 470whp and 520whp on E85.

Was this on a stock engine ? Never mind , i just noticed you said 10.1 comp . I'm still on the oem engine . This is why i'm inquiring .

I'm using darton dry sleeves and cp pistons. People have gotten similar results on stock blocks. The only reason I went this route is from hurting the OEM setup. My aftercooler pump failed, and I failed to notice my AITs climbing resulting in enough detonation to require a rebuild.

Woah, that sucks... the ECU compensation tables didn't pull enough ignition timing and add fuel to save the motor?

Sadly, yup. It doesn't help that I drive the car like I stole it.
