I have not used SOS style clutch, but my last clutch was a clutchmasters FX500...which is a puck clutch. I daily my car in Atlanta traffic. While the clutch does have a shorter engaugement point, its not THAT bad. They do not like to be constantly slipped though. The whole "you'll hate driving your car" comes from people that have friction disc being unsprung. I special ordered my FX500 to be sprung, which I believe, is why I was able to daily my car with such ease. The springs absorb shock, making the engaugement smoother

The clutch does buzz on decel somewhat but it’s a small price to pay for it’s holding capacity. The holding capacity likely comes from the segmented ceramic face on the disc which reduces its slip engagement somewhat. This clutch will hold more than the current ACT combo and is miles better than a puck. I don’t care what anybody says about a puck clutch. They are harsh on the trans, and you will hate driving the car in stop and go traffic.

This is a nice alternative for people wanting closer to 600whp with good driving characteristics.

And I'm sold. Thanks meng. Ordering soon. Might actually have my car on the road soon lol.

I wonder if the use of the sos disk with the act hd pp will yield good results I'm currently on the oem/act combo and i need to increase my torque capacity.

Man, this is tempting. My car is making around 450wtq on high boost and E85. Part of me wants to try my luck with this to see how far it can be pushed, as I'd much rather run something like this than the twin that I've had in the car for years.

Your welcome. It's got a light pedal feel that got a little stiffer on the dyno. This clutch held 600whp just fine. Another member made 620ish with the Ptuning kit with this clutch no problem. The buzz is there but it's not annoying. It's actually quitened done once broken in. I had a sprung 6 puck clutch before and the buzz and first gear made me rip it out within a week. First gear will slip, but it will take a little time to get used to it. The wife drives it no problem. This is the best option between the ACT vs puck without a doubt.

Another guy cancelled his appointment so I was able to get in to continue a dyno-tuning session earlier than expected. Sorry Rain, it didn't look like the tuner hooked up a boost gauge/line to my car , but he said max boost is at 23psi. I'll have to confirm later after doing some pulls and looking at the logs. I can post that later if you like. There was another customer waiting for a while. Anyways, I'm happy with the results. Power feels like it comes in good. I'll definitely need to fine tune my boost by speed. My numbers are 617whp/442ft-lbs.

Does anyone know if changing out just the disk will increase the torque capacity? I have a hunch that it will be okay since even act puck clutches use the same hd pp as the full face clutch kits.

Yes it will increase the torque capacity. However, SOS will not sell the disc alone.
