Will my Diff Hold

Just wanted to get some info from everyone here. I have a Ap1 Diff with Comptech Housing, ATS 1.5Way Cabon LSD, and J's 4:30 FD. How much power will this hold assuming I am NOT drag racing the car. Given I have alot of money in this diff, would it be better to sell it and get the IP kit or can I use this as long as I an not "shocking" it. I am using a GT3076R.

I ran 500hp with a comptech reinforced diff with no problems. I never dropped the clutch however. I can only imagine what my stock axles / diff would have done :p

It won't take the torque in most instances. However, IP ran their drag car on a stock diff? go figure. Mine didn't last two weeks and I was very conscious of not loading it. :)

I have a Comptech diff that was entirely cryo'd. I also had it solid sleeved as well. I think the sleeving is required for really high power levels (pinion gear tends to wobble without it, leading to the ring gear failing). I was told by the builder that an identical one did MANY laps around Sebring with NO problem, at 550rwhp. ;)

The only thing I would do is sleeve it. If you are not launching, you may be fine as is (one of the mods I think is still running OEM rear end on around 400rwhp), but like you said, its a pretty penny to replace. Putting a solid sleeve will cost a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Might want to look into the PuddyMod rear end. Phil has one on his S2k, and he is well over 600rwhp. I believe its cheaper than the InlinePro one too.

"sleeve" what all is involved and the cost?

Lovefab V1 with GT3071R pushing 16psi. About 450hp I guess.

Still on stock diff.

i have been boosted for 50k miles. I now have 475whp and 365ft/lbs and haven't had any issues with the diff. When i launched it at the track i did break an axle, but that was with no preloading, 2 step and lots of VHT on the ground. If you don't launch it, i dont see why you would have issues, however, some diffs may not be as strong as others?

I was fine with 380whp on stock diff until I went to the track and then breaky breaky  Now I have a comptech reinforced with cryo treated and seems fine but havent been to the drag strip so I dont know. Just dont do 4000 rpm launches

When you guys say stock, might help to state what gen you have.

AP1/AP2

How do you like the ATS/Carbon 1.5 LSD? I did a good bit of searching on 350z, Supra and our sites. Much love from Fperra (a source I really trust) and didn't find any bad things written about it. Surprising amount of smack about Kaaz and Cusco, but I was pretty happy with the Cusco I had before going IP. Sounded a little like the 12-bolt in my Z/28 when cold, but worked great. Looking like I'll be using the ATS/Carbonetics carbon 1.5 as the LSD unit in my Inline Pro setup.

Oh, and as to your post on whether to upgrade, ask PuddyDad and the guys at Inline based on what your needs are. Both paths are quite good and all-around nice shops.

Best,
Stanford
