Correct, both vehicles were going ~60mph...the other vehicle was dumptruck no less. The driver of the dump truck luckly survived.

The SUV was hit in the driver side door and fender pushing the dash board, left side of the engine, and the whole driver compartment completly into the passenger side compartment. It was a mess.


The sad part is that the saftey tests on "modern" vehicles are usually performed at 35mph which is such a understatement. The average speed limit in this country is probably 50mph, its beyond me why they don't raise the bar on safety.

If race car drivers can survive 200mph crashes, I feel its very possibly to be able to make you and me survive half that with enough effort.

Though I completly agree, I think they don't build cars to survive that high of an impact is because the cost is to great. Imagine buying that Ford Explorer for $150,000 or so.

I'd say 150 grand is worth my own life

I'm just messing though, I know what your getting at.
