I think it really depends on the type of tire you're thinking NFR. A Star Spec, for example, will run a little bigger than normal. A 225/45 on a 9" in that tire would be just a tad bit of stretch, you'd probably not even think it stretched if you saw it by itself.

The other purpose of going 225/45, is you maintain slightly better OD.

thats exactly the setup im looking for actually does the 225/45 look bigger than the 245/40? pics would be amazing!

not really. its just an opinion. i'm running 245/40s on 17x9s recommended by Jim @ Tire Rack. pretty close to what i had considered doing anyways

Explain the ignorance in that statement? A 235 is a stretched tire, I don't like the idea of running a skinnier tire than OEM spec on a wider than OEM spec wheel.

But also note, I said IMO. I'm not saying anything about the safety aspects or anything, just noting my opinion on tire sizes.
