An S2000 Rival from the UK
I've gotten rid of my beloved S2000 (although I wasn't very active on the forums I loved the car!). As luck turned out, I would be in a position to buy a car I've wanted for a very long time, a lot sooner than I had ever anticipated. The car was imported to Canada from the UK:

It is an interesting transition. It's very similar to the S2000 in terms of drive-ability but it is more raw than the S2000 (no power steering, no brake servo, etc). I'd say the following about the car:
Pros:
- Acceleration similar to S2000 (slightly slower on paper @ 0-60, 5.9 vs S2000 of 0-60, 5.7) but I can't feel the difference
- Better turn in than S2000, better handling all around for that matter
- More responsive steering and better steering feel by far (best feature of the car since there is no power steering)
- Fuel economy is way better than the S2000 (not that I care, just saying)
- Less body roll
- I like the styling better (but that's personal taste)
Cons:
- Wind noise!!! It is TERRIBLE on the highway, so much buffeting you need ear plugs
- Uncomfortable for longer trips (and by longer I mean anything north of 45 minutes lol)
- Gear box is junk compared to the S2000. Throws are slightly longer so not bad, but finding the gears are very difficult (especially 3rd to 2nd)
- Manual soft top that needs to be manually screwed in and installed - huge disadvantage over the convertible
- Hard top is a pain in the ass to handle and until I install a pulley/hoist system in the garage, I will probably hardly ever use the hardtop
To me, even though there is a significant down grade in power (240hp to 118hp), the lightness of the car more than makes up for the hp numbers and the added benefit of the cars agility is definetly a nice trade off. For me, it was the right decision because the end result was to have a weekend/track toy. Practicality wise, it was definetly a down grade from the s2000....but I still feel far more emotionally attached to the lotus than I ever did to my S2000
