DIY Custom Shift Boot
7 Attachment(s)
I've seen older posts of guys doing this. I want to start working on my custom interior. I finally got to give this a try. The aftermarket shift boots that you can purchase were a little out of my price range so I figured I'd take a stab at it.
All in all took about 2 hours. That's total removal, sewing and re-install time. Looking forward to this week, I'll hopefully get both doors done. Tools needed: 2 Pieces of thread - $4 (one bunch was plenty, but I'm going to the doors also) 1 set of curved needles - $4 Total $8 [attachment=63060:IMAG1341.jpg] Stock shift boot, removed from center console [attachment=63061:IMAG1342.jpg] First line done [attachment=63062:IMAG1346.jpg] Front side finished, looking pretty good [attachment=63066:IMAG1347.jpg] All finished and mounted [attachment=63063:IMAG1349.jpg] Installed back in the car. [attachment=63064:IMAG1350.jpg][attachment=63065:IMAG1352.jpg] Yellow shift knob will be next. Not sure if I'm going w/ moddiction or CR shift knob. |
Looks very good. I like.

looks good.
did you removed the old thread ? |
do you have a short shifter?
my shift boot hangs just below the shift knob and leaves the metal rod visible. https://www.s2ki.com/home/wp-content...11/04/knob.jpg |
